Costa Rica has a Caribbean coast, but there aren't any islands off the coast. The nearest islands belong to Panama, and this group of islands is called Bocas del Toro. The Bocas almost touch Costa Rica, and they are an easy day trip from Costa Rica, and the Bocas are most definitely Caribbean islands, since they are in the Caribbean sea.
Jamaica is hundreds of miles away. |

As a major island, that most people have heard of, Jamaica is closest. As far as something with an airport that you can actually travel to, Isla de San Andres - which happens to be part of Columbia.
In case you didn't know, Panama isn't an island. |

Stan is correct. San Andres is one of the most closest to it and it is a part of Colombia. There are others though. When I was in Colombia I heard a lot of this island and viewed a documentary on it.
