I took 2 bathing suits, 2 pairs of shorts with tops, and one pair of gauze pants with a matching top. I was there a week, and this was plenty. I only wore the long pants when we went to dinner. Besides, if you need more clothing, you can get it there.
Have fun! Don't get caught up worrying about fashion. Its just not an issue there. Enjoy!!!!

Being tropical, obviously you should bring warm weather clothes and bathing suits. Some resorts require nicer dress but not many. However, some of them do have one or two nicer restaurants that insist on dressier attire. For example, men must wear long pants, closed toe shoes and shirts with a collar.

For the most part in resorts either bathing suits or short pants and tee shirts are fine. I do know that it is not customary to wear bathing suits when off resort property.

You can go to TripAdvisor.com to research your particular resort and area of the country. Type in the resort name (or area) in the search area and you will find reviews written about the resort. You can read the hotel amenities for information such as dress requirements. You can also view "candid traveler photos" of resorts and ask questions in the "forums" section. Jamaica's motto is "no problem, mon" and you will find that they mean it. Relax and have a great trip.

Its cooler here now than in the summer so you can bring a sweater but cool clothing is ideal. Your sporty items will be fine but if you plan on going out especially to some restaurants bring an dress outfits.

I don't think it really matters. It's a really poor country so it's not like going to LA or South Beach.

Unless, you are staying at the Four Seasons, just wear your bathing suit and shorts, perhaps a sundress or capris if you are going out for a nice dinner.
