What continent is Aruba on?

It seems like it should be in South America, since it is so close, but a lot of sites say Central America. What continent is Central America?

Continent-wise, Central America is generally considered to be part of North America. Aruba, while just off the coast of South America, is one of the many Caribbean islands and part of Central/North America.

Continents are generally defined by tectonic plates. The Caribbean basin, of which Aruba is part, is part of the North American plate. Thus Aruba is in North America.

It is part of North America, 100% sure.

North America

Aruba is in the Caribbean Sea. It is not a part of a continent. Maybe a part of a continental shelf. North America as a region or continent? Wiki says the term Middle America is sometimes used to collectively refer to Mexico, the nations of Central America, and the Caribbean.

North America is a continent BORDERED on the south by the Caribbean Sea. *Not a part of the North American continent.

I'd say Central America. Central America starts with Mexico and ends with Panama. South America starts with that great land mass and not before. This map should convince you. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.nationsonline.org/maps/central_america_map.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.nationsonline.org/oneworld/map/central_america_map2.htm&h=922&w=1200&sz=264&tbnid=98qReRCDYkEVcM:&tbnh=115&tbnw=150&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcentral%2Bamerica%2Bmap%26um%3D1&start=1&sa=X&oi=images&ct=image&cd=1

The islands of the Caribbean are not on a continent. They are usually considered to be part of the geographic region known as North America or Latin America
