West:
* Dominican Republic (closest country in any direction)
East:
* US Virgin Islands (Saint Thomas the nearest island if going east).
South:
* Venezuela (no other island or country if going straight south crossing the Caribbean Sea)
North:
* USA - If you go straight north you will reach the USA east coast somewhere.
* However if you travel north-west you will fly over the Bahamas before reaching Florida, USA.

Here is a map that shows Puerto Rico and surrounding areas. Look at the "R" in the word Caribbean, go straight down from it to see Puerto Rico.

In the north the Atlantic Ocean, in the south by far, far away Venezuela, on the east, we have 2 little Island part of Puerto Rico, Vieques (La Isla Nena) y Culebras (La isla Municipio), after that once you past Culebras we have St Thomas, and south to this island we have Saint Croix and last but no least, on the west we have a littler island part of Puerto Rico La isla Mona, this is a desert island, and a littler more to the west we have Dominican Republic/Haiti (La Española) Cuba and Jamaica
