BabyPrincess REAL JAMAICAN QUEEN

What do you thik?

I am upset with the people who come into this forum...Its the Jamaican forumJamaica is not only about travel arrangements and hotel bookings...its were people living in Jamaica should also be able to come and talk and ask questions about issues affecting the island...and so what if I ask in patios or english...if its in patios and you don't understand then move on to a different question..I am tired of seeing people saying we are illerate!!

The Goddess
Totally totally totally UNDERSTAND YU!!

I am really sick of it! I ask a question and I say JAMAICAN PEOPLE or JAMAICAN CREW and den some foriegner come and say: Is there a point to ur question?? or SO what?..or learn how to spell first!

DID i ask you FOOL!!?? I ask JAMAICANS..yu not going to understand wi culture so WHY yu answering!!

I used to see COUNTLESS forums dedicated to the illiteracy of Jamaicans. They believe we actually think we are spelling things correctly!! DUH..we KNOW we are not..and its for a reason!

DOn't let them drag us into the deep hole they created for there own self! Like I said before, we embrace our "slang" , they try to cover there's up! They base there worth on how PROPER they speak or write....

That is what makes OUR culture so much more UNIQUE and wonderful! Even Martin Luther King (who was inspired by Jamaica to stop racism) said that he felt human in Jamaica and he wanted all nations to be like Jamaica.

We are a mixture of many races, classes, etc..and we still love one another and still love our language our culture our everything. White, asians, blacks, indians can all speak that raw patios when ready!!

WHY would we want to be like those people, when we so great with the way that we are!?

And yes Anhavana, Jamaica is placed under travel but it is also used to get detailed questions about anything pertaining to Jamaica. it is NOT only for just travel. We are adressing our culture in here which is vital to those who travel! (still luv you tho!!) ANd many people asks questions of our culture as well. What better place to ask than the JAMAICA section itself..where Jamaicans as well as others can answer ur question more thorough...

I am Jamaican but I believe you are trippin'. It's a Question and Answer site and not a forum. If you notice Jamaica is placed under the Travel and Caribbean section..... the whole idea that Yahoo created the Jamaica category for was for people to ask questions about the travel and tourism aspect and so forth aspect. All other questions about Jamaica can fit into another category.....
I do feel rather offended when they dis our patios, though.
If there were to be a section for Jamaicans they would have an International site for us in Answers International and they don't. The countries they have these sites for are:
Argentina Australia Brazil Canada China France Germany Hong Kong India Indonesia Italy Japan Malaysia Mexico New Zealand Philippines Quebec Singapore South Korea Spain Taiwan Thailand United Kingdom United States Vietnam en Español

hungirl921
I can understand that you would be upset that someone direspects your patois but when I searched for Jamaica it was under the travel section so that would explain the questions about Jamaica travel. I'm from the states and it is listed under travel as well. But......keep using your patois. If they can't understand it then they know it's not meant for them.

Well since this is under the "Travel" section & it says Jamaica. My way of thinking is this would be Q & A about travel to Jamaica. Am I wrong?

Oh sorry...what section is this then?
Thanks

Traveling to Jamiaca is not only just hotel and transpport and food i agree. It also encompasses the weather the climate the behaviour of the people social norms, religious practices.etc In essence everything about the country because any visitor will be exposed to ALLL these things.

However at the same time Yahoo certainly wont want this to become some big Yardie Online Link Up, there are plenty of websites for that.

Some questions have obvious categories, but at the same time asking about a certain song book or political views in the correct sections would more than likely garner a few i dont knows, thanks for the 2 points etc or even worse no answers at all. Besides who best to answer any such questions as the Jamma ooman dem and yard man dem dem selves?!

While typing in patois is fine be mindful of the other users and lurkers of the section who genuinely want to know but cant understand the lingo.

Now the illiterate thing is pure foolishness. The structure of Patois is inddeed harder than English and while its easy to speak writing it is super hard not to mention the spelling. So anyone who comes with that line can go scarath dem Bat-bat pon barb wire!!!!

If you cant understand, either ask for clarification or check out www.urbandictionary.com or even do a Yahoo search.

Mi done talk!!

sure ting my girl we have other interesting happenings that can be explored also not that Jamaica is not good for travel and hotel bookings but ask us about our culture, dance clubs beaches crime and violence affecting us and what we think the best strategies for solving.

If they say we are "illiterate" because we speak patois then they are "ignorant" not to realise its our dialect..

Kailee
I disagree. I think of this as a place for people to ask questions about Jamaica because they know little or nothing.

Yes it annoys me. apparently the Trinis are having this same problem as well but there questions are actually being deleted.

Really if they dont want us talking about things not relating to travel and tourism then they need to give us a category to our selves. Really how hard could that be. It need not be one simply for Jamaicans. It can be a Caribbean category. Where we can all ask our questions freely.

to annhavana i really dont think all other questions can fit into other categories. Really if i wanted to know something specific. gee like clarification to something on the news where exactly would i post that AND expect to get an answer but in here.

diddlemyskittle
Yes my girl straight. Cuz dem do understand patois dem tink seh we illiterate. Mek dem gweh.
