I went there in Jan 05 and i found it pretty nice. People are generally nice and girls are simply gorgeous, although somewhat pimpish and unreliable.
Small criminality is everywhere and the main centers are heavily patrolled by Police. What had me really amazed was the kindness of Indians, the nature and the homeless people scattered or crossing the highway on feet while cars pass by, not to mention all the old modified and colourful cars they have over there.
Contrarily to others, i'd love to move over there or to Tobago, which is smaller yet safer crimewise.
Had i found proper contacts over there i'd have put roots in it.

I think trinidad is a great father and tobago is bad for your health.

I think it's a horrible third-world dump. It's kinda scary, the cops and bodyguards carry assault rifles regularly, even at candy stores(!). The garbage is everywhere and there are stray dogs. The East Indian food like the Beef and Potato Roti wraps are good, the girls are awesome, but other than that...I wouldn't advise staying long!

i love trinidad & tobago. most of my fondest memories are from Trinidad. As a child i spent every summer there at my grandmom's house. When i got old enough to travel, i would go for christmas and then carnival. the beaches, the life the air. when i got of the plane and touched soil i was in heaven. love it, love it, love it, love it.

I like it there during Carnival. They have great food (love pelau, roti, doubles & bake & shark). Not much of a beach place in Trinidad, but Tobago has some lovely beaches. I should be there again for Carnival in 2007. Oh yes...and the rums & beers there keep me entertained as well for the nightlife. Stag, Fernandes, Angostura...

I Read about it in Geography, but never hear about in general life. I would like to visit there, sounds like an exotic place, just unheard of

Best place in the world to live. All the bad things that people say about TnT,i'm sure they can't name a country, continent, island or anywhere else on this planet that all that crap ain't happening there too.If you do name a place where there is not any crime, homeless people and all that other bad stuff, then you are A BIG LIAR.Trust mih.

My bf is actually from Trinidad, and says that he wouldn't go down there right now. The violence and crime rate has skyrocketted. I really want to go one day, but I guess patience is the key here until things settle down over ther.
