You will need a day to explore San Juan. You def need to go to 'El Morro' or old fort. It is a huge historic fort used to protect the island w/ cannons, etc. It is overfacing the ocean & its is beautiful. Then you will need to walk Viejo San Juan or old san juan to see the old spanish architecture. Also see the Casa Blanca or white house(gov't) & the old cathedral, I am not sure of the name.

Then you will need to go to 'El Yunque' Rain forest & Luquillo beach nearby is one of the nicest. Also if you get a chance go to one of the bioluminescent Bays, the water glows in the dark when you touch it. & take a boat ride on a small boat for $5, a small boat so u can touch the water yourself. There is 1 in Vieques & La Parguera.

There is Camuy Caves, they are stunning & Arecibo Observatory, a giant radio telescope(from movie Contact). The central part of the island has beautiful lush green mountain ranges. There are also taino indian parks. & a Bacardi factory outside of San Juan. There are beautiful lakes for peaceful fishing called Dos Bocas & Lago la Plata.

Tons of watersports & golfing. Lots of shopping. A huge mall called Plazas las americas. The nightlife in San Juan is great & delicious food, try it all. It all depends on what you like to do. PR has tons of things. Check this site. ENJOY!!

Golf
A links-lover's paradise, Puerto Rico is home to more than 20 golf courses, of which almost all could be considered championship-level courses.
Scuba diving
Scuba diving and snorkeling, for beginners and experts alike, is the reason why Puerto Rico is often called the Caribbean's best kept underwater secret.
Walking Tour of Old San Juan
Bacardi Rum TourThe Bacardi Rum Distillery, the largest in the world, is only a 15-minute drive from San Juan and is one of the most popular visitors’ destinations in Puerto Rico.
Arecibo Radio Telescope
In the northwest mountains of the island, nestled among the karst-country hills, is the Arecibo Ionospheric Observatory, or Radio Telescope, the largest of its kind and one of the most important research facilities on the face of the earth.
MuseumsPuerto Rico has scores of museums exhibiting everything from millennia-old Indian artifacts to 20th century modern art. The most prestigious collection of fine art in the Caribbean is yours to visit at the Ponce Museum of Art, where you can see the famous "Flaming June", in addition to a large collection of Colonial period religious art.

Hi

The others have given you great ideas and just to second these.

You have to see:
Old San Juan (including El Morro, the Cathedral, Governers Mansion, San Juan Gate, Paseo La Princessa promenade). Check out any of these restaurants (Tantra, Parrot Club, Amadeus, Aquaviva, Dragonfly, El Convento Tapas bar).

El Yunque rainforest + Luquillo Beach food kiosks

Ponce in the south

The Camay Caves

If you are really adventurous take a car and see some of the Routa Panoramica (round through the central mountains)

Cabo Roja area (South West)

There is also the casinos + the 5 star hotels to check out

For more ideas see what there is at:

The best thing to do here is eat our culturally known foods, which are the best, don't just settle for rice and beans, go all out and eat mofongos and alcapurias and stuff, and enjoy the night life, go to the clubs and dance, we have a great part environment here and since it's summer, it's pretty much party all day long here. on 4 of july people don't only go to the beach but hundreds of people camp out on the beach overnight and there's a lot of music and drinking, so that's always fun, and most of the malls are inexpensive, so if you don't want to waste a lot of money like in Plaza Las Americas, where most of the stores are American, like Old Navy and Gap, you can go to Plaza Rio Hondo, in Bayamon, or Plaza Isabela in Isabela and you'll find a lot of inexpensive, puertorriquen stores to buy great souvenirs or shop for yourself. Good Luck and enjoy your stay!

Depends what part of PR you gonna be in.. I was in San Juan, go to the Bacardi Distillery.. of the hook, and go to the rain forest, El Morro, i think... go snorkel, or go to Old San Juan..good stuff.

Do look up some stuff online, especially when you book your trip through like expedia, they give you a chance to choose some activities.
