I've been to Barbados a couple of times and it is fantastic! Beaches are A1, sea is like a warm bath, people are generally friendly but be careful of beach traders - they don't take no for an answer. Take US dollars - it's preferred and try a jeep safari - unbelievable experience also try scuba diving - English firms in Bridgetown and what a buzz! Try Oistins on Friday night if you like to eat fish - all round the holiday of a lifetime - really hot and humid in Nov - march - watch out for mosquitos too. Enjoy! Oh and Mount Gay Rum is excellent - and cheap! |

Everything there is great. Yes to all your questions here. The beaches are beautiful particularly on the west side and the water is warm, Some strong currents though. On the east side your are on the Atlantis where the sea is colder.
The best rum there is called Mount Gay rum |

Went there a bit over 2 years ago and it did rain in the morning (as it usually does down there) but we still had a blast. Once the rain cleared up and the sun came out.. omg it was beautiful! and the people are real nice too! The beaches will take your breath away! |

Barbados is a very beautiful island that has lots to see and to do for all kinds of people, different race and age.

The locals here are very friendly people and if you have a query simple ask and you will be provided with good information that will help.
Well I dont drink but i have heard that are locally made rum and beers are nice: Banks beer an Mount gay Rum.
The beaches are simple to describe: BEAUTIFUL! They are breath taking and everyone that goes wants to say...you can lie on the beach to take in the wonderful rays of the sun and get a sweet tan or just relax for the day and enjoy the wonderful flowing breezes that will flow your way..anyway you choose to spent time on the beacxh will be enjoyable.

Locals are very friendly, but it is a poor country. Stay in the tourist sections for your safety. They will sell you anything and in the resorts are very curtious. The rum is used in a variety of drinks. It is strong, but good. Beautiful Beaches, but stay near Bridgeton it is much cooler with a beautiful breeze. Its very relaxing. Not good for kids it's a place for adults. |

Barbados is a beautiful place and I am not saying that because I am a Bajan (Barbadian). You can feel at home here and we are very laid-back. Not the hustle and bustle that you will get in the metropolitan cities.
The sun will caress your skin so you should bring some sun screen to protect you skin for the rays of the sun. You also might get some rain in between but nothing to worry about. I am not saying that the island is perfect and everyone's experience will be different.
Yes, it is very relaxing and the beaches are beautiful. The water is clear and the sand is white and clean. Some Barbadians love the beaches so much that they will go to the sea every Sunday and many returning nationals go every morning at 5:00 am. Miami Beach and Browne beach on Bay street is very popular for this latter activity.
I do not drink rum but it is very popular among some Barbadians as well as visitors to the island. We have the oldest rum in the world namely Mount Gay Rum. This is one of the souvenirs that is usually taken back by visitors. We also have the best beer in the world-Banks.
The locals are very friendly and you can call on us any time. If you want directions we are always very willing to help. If you lose your purse in a taxi, I would go so far as to say that 10 out of 10 times you will recover it. That is not to say that there is no crime because I would be lying. Nevertheless, you would have to come here and experience it for yourself. Have a look at this excerpt below.
'Barbados is a very beautiful island, with lots of art, activities, night life, music, history and some of the best restaurants to be found anywhere. But what makes Barbados even more special, and the reason why so many visitors keep returning to the island year after year, is the people. Barbadians, called Bajans, are warm and friendly souls, always ready to greet you with a sincere smile. Barbadians make you feel welcome and special, in this lovely Caribbean Island. You will feel its your home and will want to come back again and again to Barbados: A unique Caribbean paradise, surprisingly sophisticated, friendly, fun and always Naturally Charming!'
