hmm, a Doubles is made from two bara "two flat fried breads", some what like a taco, only smaller, and plenty softer, filled with curried channa (chickpeas).

What really makes a doubles tasty is the toppings:
pepper - mild and hot
kuchela
tamerind sauce
mango chutney
coconut
cucumber
shadon-beni

It is usually served piping hot, and can be breakfast, lunch, any-afternoon-lime snack, im-hungry-at-4-in-the-morning-cause-i-no... meal, hell - anytime you see a doubles vendor, is good then. and doubles is best served with a red solo, or a cold Apple-J Soda.

If you EVER get to a doubles vendor there are two things you need to remember:
1. no matter how much pepper you accustomed eating, You dont want any pepper!

2. doubles vendors dont know the meaning of slight pepper, You dont want any pepper!

ohh and 3. even when the doubles vendor tell you that the pepper not hot. YOU DONT WANT ANY PEPPER! refer to 2 above.

PS. you dont want anything else but ah little shadon-beni and cucumbers cause everything else have pepper.

I does say No Pepper...abt 5 times...LOL...and they does say....some mango?? I will ask...it have pepper?? they will say...only for Flavour! LOL....I does say ...NO PEPPER!

The Trinis will be able to give you a better answer but it has in channa peas and they add mango chutney, pepper among other things. The Trinis can correct me if I made a mistake.

ok doubles is a popular dish here. you can't come here and not have it. so doubles: my spelling might be off, you'll need some one who knows hindi very well to get it. anyways:
barra: that's the little flat bread looking thing you see.
channa: chickpeas, it's curried or something like that
then you have the chutney. could be mango, coconut or anything else.
pepper sauce, is a must have on your doubles. unless you can't eat pepper then don't eat it with pepper.
