I've been to Punta Cana 5 times with my family. I loved beach, the water is clear as bath water, and also around 84 degrees everday!! The people there are very nice, and friendly, infact, more friendly than people in America!! They'll say "hola" to you everyday, and always give you warm smiles. The prices are good compared to other tropical places in the world. There are stores on the side of the beach sold by the natives, but it's totally safe with guards securing the beach at all times. This is a great place to buy gifts for the family. You get to bargin the prices with the people, and can often get nearly $100 under what they orginally asked for. The gift shops are unreasonably priced. I stayed here: http://www.iberostar.com/EN/Punta-Cana-hotels/Iberostar-Punta-Cana_3_64.html . In the Bavaro. For 5 people, it was very reasonable. Have fun! I would definatlly recommend this trip!

PUNTA CANA IS AMAZING. If you go, you HAVE to go snorkeling or Scuba diving. Its the TOTAL slums there, outside of the resorts. NO lie, its kinda scary. I just went in November and it was beautiful there. I've never seen clearer skies and bluer water. You should go. i stayed at Occidental resorts. They airport is so different from American Airports. THeres no doors. HAHA. its a GREAT experience. And alota people speak english at the Resorts, not rly the airports though. haha. I meet alota people from ALL OVER the world. it was an experience I'll NEVER forget.

Good beaches, dirt cheap stuff, warm water, great food, great SCUBA diving, all night parties, friendly people. What more could you want???

My dad said it was wonderful! He loves it there it was the best place he has ever been to. The waters are so blue. Hes going to retire there. The food is delicous and water sports are the greatest there. Alot of stuff there is cheap. The hotels are also amazing.

I loved it!! I stayed there a few years ago and I found it to be very worth it. Ive been to Cuba and Mexico multiple times as well and I found Dominican to be very comparable to Cuba. I though Mexico was more extravagent.

Punta Cana's beaches are fantastic! White sand and aqua water, what else could you ask for? All the resorts there are pretty good as well, I recommend staying at least at a 4 star. Only bummer I find with Dominican now is the taxes have gone up.

The people are really friendly! They will do anything to help you and there is always plenty of stuff to get involved in. From dance lessons to beach volleyball. Stuff is really cheap, I enjoy the flea markets or random beach venders. Really nice taste of Dominican. Remember the lifestyle they are used to is nothing like North America.

Nevertheless Punta Cana is a great getaway spot:)

punta cana is simply beautiful, the beaches r gorgeous and i say this cuz im from the dominincan republic and its a way to get a relaxin , fun, but cheap vacation that u will never forget. The people in the dominican republic r really friendly and welcoming so that will b the best choice.

In general the Dominican Republic is very good and not expensive. The only difference is between :
A. Punta Cana/Bavaro, nice hotels nice beach but that's it, nothing special outside the resorts, the town is 45 miles away!
B. Puerto Plata, nice hotels, big beaches, a lot to see and to discover, town at 15 min (by public bus) Ocean World, and much more...
C. Boca Chica, few hotels, big beach, town ( Santo Domingo) at 50 miles and very small , only 1 street.
Anyway the people in the tourist area are friendly, and if you want to buy stuff, do it outside the tourist areas, you will find it
interesting and cheap. Enjoy it!
I hope this helped a bit, if you want more info, let me know!

Punta Cana was awesome. Beaches were great food exceptional friendly people. You have to remember though it can only be as good as you make it. Don't forget you HAVE left the country and things are done differently.
