What is a great affordable tropical destination for a family of 5 (3 teenagers)?

Right now I would say Cancun Mexico is a great place to travel with teenages. Many choices of hotels, restaurants and things to do. They are recovering from a hurricane in October 2005 and they need the tourist dollars to get back in good shape. They have alot of All-Inclusive hotels which is great for teenages. I know my grandchildren are always hungry and thirsty. Dad can keep the wallet in the safe.
Another suggestion is Dominican Republic.
Trip Advisor, Apple Vacations or Liberty Travel is a very good place to start your research. I don't know where you will be traveling from to suggest affordable for you. The air can sometimes be more than the hotel. Also what time of year do you want to travel. The least afforable time to travel is in the off season (June- Mid December) May also has some deals.

Good Luck and happy researching.

Cruise deals can work out the best sometimes. Believe it or not, Aruba can have good packages also. It all depends what time of year and who you go through. I'm working with a travel agent for the first time for our honeymoon cruise, and she knocked off $300 off of any other price I could find on the internet. VCA Travel and Cruisecompete.com are my two suggestions (VCA gave me a quote through cruisecompete.com).

Dominican Republic offers cheaps all inclusive, beautiful beaches, nice service, go to tripadvisor.com and check the Caribbean area so you can compare prices and people's reviews

Call Apple Vacations and get the all inclusive package to the Starfish Trelawny in Jamaca. We had a group of 17. Our flight was non-stop from Milwaukee, WI. It took just under 4 hours. It cost about $1,300.00 apiece. We left New Years Eve at 7:00 AM. We came back on the 7th, leaving there about noon. Several restraunts, a disco, several bars, a buffet. There are all sorts of activities through out the day and evening. Every thing is paid for, including drinks. It was the first time my wife, 2 sons and I have been there. The group is already planning next years outing.
For more info, Google Starfish Trelawny. Side trips do cost extra, but are worth it.

No question, the jewel of the Caribbean, Roatan. West Bay Beach in Roatan is the most beautiful stretch of sand in the world. It is not highly developed yet, so you get that sense of being on a deserted island but with all the comforts of home. Check out the Mayan Princess Resort or the Henry Morgan. The first is more expensive but worth it, and the second offers really affordable all inclusive packages. Roatán is a small island off the coast of Honduras, it offers some of the best and least expensive diving in the world. If you want to rough it a bit more try Utila, another of Honduras´s Bay Islands.

Check it out al www.letsgohonduras.com

Happy travels.
