reggae is a mixutre of african music namely drumming, calypso etc...Reggae was 1st introduced to the world by bob marley and have today evovled into what jamaicans now call 'dancehall'
there are different types of reggae - depending on the singer's preference and rythm. for example - sean-paul mixes R&B with his reggae, sometimes as does Shaggy.
Others stick to the dancehall scene which is the backbone of the country.

Reggae is a style of music developed in Jamaica and is closely linked to the Rastafari movement, though not universally popular among Rastafarians. It is founded upon its rhythm style, which is characterized by regular chops on the backbeat, played by the rhythm guitarist and the bass drum often hitting on the third beat of each measure-- this is called the "one drop."

Reggae is a genre of music that was developed in Jamaica.
Now reggae is synonymous to Jamaica. Bob Marley is credited with taking reggae to international heights.

Say anyone and people will associate the other.
