What is the average price range that Jamaicans pay for a home?

I know that there are some multi-million dollar homes and some very inexpensive homes and a whole lot of homes in between. I'm just trying to get an idea of what the average 3 bd home in a nice neighborhood is going for in Jamaican dollars. Nothing fancy, just a home for the average family?

10 Million could do for a normal home in a peaceful-enough community.

stingjam
For an average family, in a nice neighborhood (safe but not posh), expect to pay about J$15 million.

Those people who don't think there is such a thing as a nice neighborhood in Jamaica, should see what a US$3 million Jamaican home looks like. There are MANY US$1.5 million homes in Jamaica. They are not even rare!

jalady
Gligger you obviously have not been to Jamaica!

Jamaica is the largest English speaking island in the Caribbean..

There are such a variety of areas and it would depend what you need...near a school for a child
I think you should RENT FIRST while looking. ...do you prefer the country parts...what kind of job ..can you live in any part of Jamaica?

Look for a home depending on how much you want to spend...then check out the areas.
But you need to know the neighborhoods.

Of course near the beaches a home is going to be more expensive.

There is large middle class in Jamaica, and yes we have alot of poor but look at the many large homes....the dollar goes far in Jamaica.

1 U.S dollar =70$JA

That is why they will quote you a very high dollar amount in Ja $.

How much you earn..unless you are retired ..all these things need to be looked into before you can give a general $ amount for a home.

girlnextdoor
They range anywhere from 7mil to about 20 million J$. All depends on the area (Middle or Upper-Middle class). You could get some cheaper than 7million but you would most likely have to do some work on it.

You may want to check Jamaica Centry21 realty website

Hope this helps

I would look at gated communities if your looking for a good neighborhood. Remember prices are always negotiable.
