What is the best beach in the Dominican republic?

I'm Dominican and the best commercial beach is definitely Bavaro that's in the east like 3 hours away from the main airport (Las Americas). But the best beach tat is not so crowded it in Samana, Las Terrenas. Depending on the season you can see the whales. That is 4 hours away in car, or you can take a little plane service that take you to Samana in about half an hour.
Also there is the most beautiful beach, but there isn't any development yet, called Bahia de las Aguilas. The Dominicans go camping (its so virgin its a must see) to Bahia de las aguilas (bay of eagles) in the south, Pedernales, 4 hours away, then half in boat. The prefere doing that on a long weekend because its a long trip. You can check local Tours operators such as Prieto Tours, Desde el Medio Tours and others they arrange large groups with accommodations, food and drinks included.hen take a boat. Stay in Barahona, an in the next morning take an hour and a half.
Finally if you what really like what ordinary people do, definitely go Bavaro. Great nightlife, hotels, food and the best of all is the beautiful kind people. Don't forget to go to the Jelly fish Restaurant. Don't stay in your room!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My country has many things to do and places to see, go there and have fun, its so cheap! Believe me i live now in Barbados.

I Aagree with IMSOME....i am dominican too and i think Bavaro is the best beach......white sandy beach.......coconut trees........and lot of all inclusive and great hotels
I used to work for 5 years in Bavaro Barcelo Hotels....and i think that it was the best moment of my life

Bavaro is the best and most beautiful beach in the whole country. Trust me, I'm dominican.

In Samana's peninsula,I think.
Rincon beach,Las Galeras,Las Terrenas.They are wild and not crowded.
Other ones that I like are along the east coast : Nisibon,Limon. Are wild and very nice,no tourists at all.
If you like the crowd,of course,choose Bavaro-Punta Cana.
Other nice spots are in Catalina Island,Saona island,in the south east(A lot of tourists down there...),and, Bahia de las Aguilas(close to the border to Haiti) "the last one",maybe the best and wild.

I lived there for 14 years. In the north, Cofresi, about 15 kms from Playa Dorada
In the south, Juan Dolio and Boca Chica are touristy, but I prefer an out of the way place near San Cristobal called NAHAYO. Un fortunately its best known for being very close to the biggest federal prison on the island., but trust me! Economical, safe friendly and no gaudy trinkets!
