What is the best time of year to go to Jamaica?

I don't want to book a holiday to Jamaica in the rainy season. What time of year is best, in your opinion?

CATHOLIC PRIEST!!
I have gone there in May, June, July and August. From my experiences there throughout the years the best time to go is during June-July because it is not rainy (just occasional short bursts that quickly gets dried up). Late August onward to October is hurricane season so you run a risk during then.

During the June-July season it is really sunny and lush and you can really enjoy all the beautiful scenery. We were just there in July and everyday was just beautiful!

Have fun!

Its good all year round but seeing you don't want to come in the rainy months, you could visit in Christmas since summer is already gone. You will have loads of fun.

P.S. 100% Jamaican.

I went last week of March / first week April in 2005 and we only had 1 evening when it rained. I'm going back in the 2nd and 3rd weeks of April next year to get married so it better not rain then!!!

Enjoy your holiday.

Found this on the jamaican tourism website:

Don’t worry about hurricanes, the last hurricane to directly hit Jamaica happened in 1988 and before that in 1952! Although there is little real variation in temperature year round, between December and April the weather is practically perfect for any activity every day. The average temperature ranges from 19 degrees Celsius (66 degrees Fahrenheit) to 32 degrees Celsius (99 degrees Fahrenheit) all year

Also try thisistravel.co.uk for a better breakdown and explanation of the weather in Jamaica.

I suggest you look on the websites and decide what you want to do when you are there - oh, and how deep your pockets are!!!

Have a good holiday!

The best time $$ wise is from April 15-Dec 15 as that is low season. Although Jamaica can be and has been hit by hurricane Gilbert in 1988 is the only one to directly for awhile. However, Jamaica was damaged my Mitch and by Ivan also. Don't let that scare you. They usually know ahead of time if a hurricane is going to be headed that way. As for rainy season. That is my favorite time to go. It usually only rains a bit in the morning and then maybe in the afternoon. hings are lush and the rains are warm. Hurricane season is June 1 to Nov 30 if you are truly worried about that.
