What is the best vacation destination in the Bahamas?

if u want a chill vacation spot then go to freeport..but if u want more commercialzied stuff with more to do then go to nassau...i loved freeport though..so chill and laid back...there is a place there called lucayan national park and u walk down this walkway like half a mile on this boarded walkway over a marsh down to this desserted white beach with no one there...great experience!

If you can afford it The Atlantis on Paradise Island is fabulous.

Go to Ritz Beach Resort on Grand Bahama Island. Nassau is a dirty place. It is so commercialized that if you want to go to a place w/ hustle and bustle instead of relaxing, that would be it. I'm not sure why the person said the people on Grand Bahama Island are not as friendly. That's a pretty bold and blanket statement. I highly doubt that he/she is a native. Every single person I dealt with there was so kind and laid back. Even in the government buildings where usually people can get a bit testy.

Did not stay at Atlantis, but walked thru it one evening. If you can afford it - don't miss it!!!!!

Bimini is not far from Florida! Not very commercial. Beautiful white sand beached, clear water.

Take Royal Caribbeans ship Nordic Empress to the Bahamas. It stops at Freeport, Nassau and Coco Cay and it is a fabulous trip. The food is excellent too.

If you want to stay at a hotel, go to the Atlantis Hotel in Paradise island. It is great there.

When I went I stayed in Nassau at the Wyndham Palace Resort (w/ casino) which btw has its own private beach-- Very clean and well kept but i spent most of my days days at Paradise Island, Atlantis and at Cabbage beach-- Paradise Island has a private beach (unless u are a guest there u cannot go) but Cabbage beach which is 5 minutes away (walking distance) is BEAUTIFUL!!! clear water, clean beaches, good people. Paradise Island is a bit more expensive so if u're on a budget then go to Nassau and take a boat to Paradise Island- Its $3 each way --

You cannot get lost, u can take the little jitney buses for $1, which stops right in front of the Wyndham and in front of many of the major resorts or hotels and will take u down to where u take the boat--

You will love it-- GO TO NASSAU OR PARADISE ISLAND ONLY! I have not heard good reviews about Freeport

Stay on Nassau Island. You can always go to Paradise island to check out Atlantis hotel. All the stores, restaurants are on Nassau Island. It costs $10 to take a taxi from one island to another.

Nassau New Providence the capital there is more to do and its not as boring as the other island...Grand Bahama the people arent that friendly...Im bahamian i know...Plus i live in N.P there is definiately more to do here compared to the other islands...

It also depends on the age of your kids but u have to also consider mosquitos and sand flies. N.P doesnt have sand flies
