What is the best way to get money in Cuba from the UK?

I am a language student about to spend my year abroad in Cuba. I need to be able to access money and want to know the best way for my parents to send me money from England. Are there any recommended methods???? I have a Barclays bank account in the UK, however I am aware that using cashpoints etc can be very very expensive. Are there any better methods? I will be there for 10 months.

You can get money sent to you by wireless transfer. This will be to a nominated bank in cuba where you can collect the money from. There are certain % charges on these transactions though. Either that or just take travellers cheques out with you or cash to convert to cuc, cuban convertible pesos.

Get a bank reference before you go, and take it with you. Open an account there and get your parents to send money to the Cuban account.

Cuba is really dificult to send money too, and restricted to cash machines to some MAIN banks only!! you would be better of going to your local travel agents and they should be able to tell you the best methods,, Western Union are the obvious for cash transfers but not sure that available in Cuba this is available..

You can have a master card and get money directly in the bank thats all and the best way. For turism visit www.ihtworld.com you can get comisions also getting client through www.ihtworld.com if you write me to me directly we can talk about, even when i have my own representants you could take the obtion of get my hotels services and transfer for them and after making excurtions by yourself that i could tell how to do it, anyway I could let you know about my cousin who study english in the last year of the University. To what University will you go? let me know if is it interesting for you? you can feel free to contact me directly to my email address in ronel@ihtworld.com.

Western Union money transfer. Might be even more expensive than using cashpoints though.

Canada has no travel restriction on Cuba as the USA does. Just wire the money to the Bank Of Cuba. Really, this shouldn't even be an issue!
