What is the best way to get to Cuba from Florida?

I would like to travel to Cuba this December. I was wondering about flights from Nassau or Jamaica? I would even consider a boat or ferry. You think I could pay someone from Key West to run me over there for a weekend? Thanks

via Cancun or Nassau are probably the most common.

With Cancun, you can fly Mexicana both legs, whilst Nassau is riskier with US customs (I hear), plus only Cubana flies from there to Cuba.

Jamaica - I don't think the connections are so good. (Not that Cancun is that great - I've waited 7 or 8 hours there).

look at http://www.nashtravel.com/gateways.html

PS the CIA estimated that ~ 10% of Cubans would leave the country if they could - not quite everyone.
PPS don't take back any souvenirs - especially not cigars

If you are an American, you face felony charges for visiting cuba with permission of the state department.

US immigration is present at both nassau and kingston, i'm not sure they would have any way to stop your or seeing you get on board, but you never know.

from State Dept. site:
U.S. citizens and residents must be licensed by the U.S. Department of Treasury in order to travel to Cuba. On January 5, 1999, an expansion of people-to-people contacts and direct passenger flights to Cuba was announced in order to facilitate travel of licensed persons from the U.S. to Cuba. However, travel to Cuba is restricted and only select categories of travelers are licensable. Tourist travel is not possible under U.S. law. Business-related travel is restricted to persons engaging in or arranging for permitted export sales, such as the sale of medicines or medical equipment, or for food or agricultural goods to non-governmental entities.

...??!! Sorry for what I am going to write here : have you even been given a History class where they teach about the US embargo to Cuba? It has been like that for 40 some years

Ferries to Cuba, boats? unless you are smugling cubans I dont see another way...

Cheapest way via a third country : Miami - Cancun , then Cancun-Havana or Miami -Nassau, Bahama from there to Havana too.

swim the 90 mi from Key West (other wise it is illegal to travel from America, unless you get on one of those humanitarian trips. just wait a few years till Castro dies

You can't travel legally to Cuba if you are from the US. There are no flights or ships that go there there. If you are caught by the US you will be arrested.
