The legal drinking age here in the Dominican Republic is 18. Unfortunately, it is not enforced in many parts of the country. |

Unfortunately any age, is normal for parents send their kids to the grocery store to buy drinks and cigarettes, but I guess if you go to a club or some place like that they might have some restrictions. I believe you have to be 18 years old. |

I was there a few months ago, and we stayed at an all inclusive resort. In order to get a wristband that allowed me to drink, I had to show an ID stating that I was at least 18. Also, the drinking age at the bars in punta cana (outside the resorts) is 18. But at the places we went, I was never carded, and I look like I'm about 16. I guess it depends on where you go. Have fun on your trip! :) |

I'm sure they have one, but I don't think most people know what it is. I think drinking ages which are enforced is a pure North American creation. I've never seen anyone asked for ID before except in USA and Canada and I've lived on 5 continents. |
