What is the money like for a canadian nurse working in the dominican rep would i make more working on a resort?
would i make more than locals because i have a canadian education and i speak english & spanish?
-aniita Additional Details are there clinics on resorts that will pay you in canadian dollars? or are there agencies in canada that i can work for as a travel nurse so that i get paid in canadian dollars?
Nurses in the Dominican Republic make close to nothing. The only nurse I encountered that made a decent wage was a nurse working between the US and the Dominican Republic. She lives in the Dominican Republic but every 6 months she has to travel back to the US to work in a hospital. So, I wouldn't count on making much as a nurse there.
EDIT/ This does not account for everyone. You are always able to look for nursing jobs at private clinics, hospitals, and other creditable places to get an idea for yourself the wage you would make.

first you need your residency to work legally here because no LEGITIMATE company will hire you with out it. There are places you can work but not in a major hotel or hospital.
Don't come here needing to work for a iiving because you won't be happy with the outcome.

Well I don't know what their current salary is in the DR for a nurse, but I did work there 5 years ago as a Destination Rep and the money was decent for a third world country. Between wage and commission it was approximately US$300.00/week (sometimes less and sometimes more). So if you don't care how much you make when you go there, you might try to find a job as a nurse. However, I'm guessing you'd probably make more money as a Rep.

If you get a government job you probably won't make more than $200.00-$300.00 US dollars a month. Working at a private clinic would get you some more money but nothing like what you'd make in Canada. At a resort you'd probably make more plus get tips depending what you'd be doing. English might help you in some sectors but not that much in health care. Wealthy foreigners usually go to Miami to get their health care.

You probably might make a little more than US$200.00 per month because I understand that this is the pay. I doubt very much that you will get far more. Even if you get double that it still is not enough. Your best bet is to stay where you are.

Yes you make a lot of money if you make your own business as a nurse.
