Let me tell you something about the US government all they do is go around and defeat other countries so they can have rule over them. That's all the US do this is why so many other countries hate America. Good question. Some Americans would say it is to surround communist Cuba, or protect the Eastern approaches to the Panama Canal.

Most non-Americans would say it is another example of American imperialism, protecting the resources that America feeds on, like narcotics and oil.

Lighten up, sometimes ! I know FOR SURE one reason of exactly why "WE" were there, ahh..........to help clean up the ocean floor !! yep, that simple. Oh and that was THE ENTIRE REASON for over 200 scuba qualified troops spending 4 months (and US $)there. It was very hard work and a blast !Oh, and it's done almost yearly for at least the past 8 years.

If you see a US soldier, ask them. I'm sure they mean you harm. They have families, too. Call your local govt. and ask them. If you ask any informed Indians they are happy to have the US troops in the middle east because they have saved thousands of lives in northern regions by reducing terrorism. Way over the 3000 lives that were lost on 9/11. They paralyzed the terrorists by cutting off their funds.Some of the answers given you, are from paranoid ppl who read and believe biased statements. Even the newspapers are slanted in many areas, but keep asking questions.
