What is the weather like in the Dominican Republic in May?

Hello.
Me and my girlfriend are staying at the Gran Ventana Beach Resort in Playa Dorada May 9th - May 23rd.
We are both really excited but at the same time were VERY nervous. Ive been researching and found out that May is the rainy season. Does this mean we will have to pack our umbrellas?

This link gives you the choice of cities, then you click on the weather history and specify May, 2008 to find out the actual weather last year!
Have fun on your vacation. I'd leave my umbrella at home and if needed buy a cheap one (thats better than packing one!) and then leave it in the hotel or give it to someone who didn't have one when I leave.

Yeah you may need an umbrella but when it isnt raining it is absolutely breathtaking (the resorts at least). I am sure you will have lots of fun.

April tends to have more rain but its usually warm here around then (but umbrellas can't hurt)
