Every time I've been to Mexico they've been more than willing to accept dollars. In fact, in all the touristy places people hawk their stuff in dollars. Even more out of the way shops accept both... with the exchange rate being reasonable but not great.

Bring $ you can exchange it there, but most places actually take US $.

gueroloco28
Depends...

if you are staying put at an all inclusive resort and staying in the region, dollars will suffice.

If you are traveling a little off the beaten path, I'd recommend having some pesos.

keep in mind, you normally GET A BETTER RATE when using pesos

rijojunior
It depends, if you come to Hotels, Tours, etc....you may need dollars, and, in some ocasions, you may need pesos. Though, if you take dollars to Dominican Republic, you can change them to pesos.

Jose E
Even thought they can take dollars anywhere you go, it is for your own benefit to do the currency exchange and use the pesos

pesos, ther are many places to exchange dollars, the airport is the best place to get a good rate, try a few places to get a good rate but be careful, the airport is the safest

jaci
Only the Almighty Dollar that's what they want

arfarfmom
have been to the dominin republic twice in a years time. we used the dollar. the exchange rate changes daily. we did exchange some small bills so our kids could have their money.
