Darth Eugene Vader
Pets: Dogs, Cats, Birds, Tropical fish (fresh & salt water), some Reptiles like snakes, iguanas, turtles, some rodents: white mice, guinea pigs, hamsters, etc. some mothers would classify some of these as non-pets.

Domestics animals (farms): Cows, bulls, horses, pigs, chickens, goats, sheep (very rare), ostrich (very rare but there are some found in PR).

Pests: Ticks, ants, fleas, termites, mice, rats, etc. also a large comunity of monkeys escaped from a reasearch facility and are a pest fro local fruit farms in the southwestern area.

Zoo animals: We got more than one zoo, the biggest has: lions, tigers, leopard, elephants, okapi, bears, camels, chimpanzees, eagles (the only zoo out of the 50 states allowed to have american bald eagles), rhino, hipopotamus, cabiparra (the biggest rodent in the world, can grow as big as a medium sized dog).

Wildlife: Cotorra Puertorriqueña (Puertorrican Parrot), Guaraguao (a kind of hawk), coqui (several species of tropical rain forest frogs), Puertorrican Boa, culebrón (snake), Iguanas, Lagartijo (small lizards)

Sea life: Shark, Manatee, Marlin (swordfish), lobster, red snapper, yellow tail snapper

The chupacabras has not been captured and studied so please not mention that one in your assigment. Also, they are some brute/rude humans that are called "animals" by all the others.

There is a wide variety of animals both domestic and wild. The domestic of course are the ususal farm animas and home pets. But the wild animals are unique and many are endangered species. They are:
1. Paloma Sabaner-it is like a pigeon which only lives in the mountain ranges of Cidra near the center of the island. They are a bit smaller than the pigeon, are a dark tan color and has a light colored ring around the neck. It's beak is about 2 inches long and is thinly pointed and sharp.
2. Iguanas. they live in the manglares or mangle areas where there is water so they can hide. By the airport there are many. Where I live by my house there is a small water channel and in the trees there are many. They are ranging from 1 to 3 feet long, and when they are on alert, the pointy thin spikes on their necks will perk up. They are ranging from a dark green to a light green in color. Some as a nick name call the Iguanas "gallina de palo" or chicken on a stick as it is know that some will take the iguana kill them and roast them to eat.
3.Tortuga marina or Marine turtle- they live on the coasts where thy can bury their eggs in the sand. These turtles are in danger of being extinct, but the Natural Resource dept. is protecting them by collecting the eggs and the turtle and putting them in special enclosed areas until the baby turtles are biggen enough to survive. This turlte is in danger because people have caught them for eating and using their shells for holding objects. They are large and like a green-brownish color. They are peaceful and of course slow in walking.
4. Cotorra-parrot-is a dangered species due to many people capturing them. But some were put in captivity and treated and taken care of due to them having eggs and the eggs needed protection. Recently the first group was set free, one died. But more efforts are being done to save these birds from being exctinct. They are very colorful, large and eat of course nuts, berries, and seeds from other plants.
5. Boa-of course there are snakes here. I lived in Aguas Buenas and at the back of my home there I ran into one. They range from 3-6 feet long and are of 3 tones of brown. They do not bite, but they squeeze. They do not bother anyone unless you bother them. They are more afraid of humans but still they are on the deffensive side.
6. Murcielagos-bats- the bats are fruit bats. Where I lived, our home was once invaded by the bats. These are fruit bats due to the land was planted with plantains, parchas or passion fruits, oranges, grapefruits, lemons, bananas and sweet potatos. They come out at night of course and huver over the house until the lights go out to land and sleep under the roof since it was of wood. I did capture one to take to my son's school and it was from wing tip to another near 1 foot wide in wing span with a body of about a bit bigger than a mouse. The teeth were yellow and very sharp, his ears were pointy, tiny and real like glued to the head, his nose was like a pug nose and pointy at the middle top. It does screach and makes a loud shrill sound.
7. Guaraguao-a large bird mostly found in the mountain range towns. When the chickens are out in the yard they take caution to the sound of the guaraguao because they will swoop down and take a chicken if it is in the open. They are large with a wing span from 3 to 5 feet, with large talons, and large beaks. Again I saw them all the time in Aguas Buenas a mountain town North of Cidra, West of Bayamon and South from San Juan.
8. Alacran-or large centipeed. This reptile is large ranging from 12 inches to up to 1½ feet long. In Aguas Buenas, there is a lot of farm land and I have seen them while picking coffee beans. They are red with tiny legs, both ends have pinchers but the ones in the front by the head are bigger. They are poisenous because a neighbor got bit long ago but survived because he was attended to on time. If they kill well so far no one has died from the bite, but the bite is strong an

if you are talking about animal in Puerto Rico dont forget to mention Coqui frog. and the fact that the coqui can only live in Puerto rico. the people doesn't know why but...

Lost. at. Sea.
We have a variety of animals in the Islands but the most famous and important for me are:
1. The Guaraguao. Is the local eagle very majestic. Is common all around the island including the Metropolitan area of San Juan. The Guaraguo is always fighting with the Pitirre bird.
2. The Puerto Rican Boa. The boa is color brown and is protected because is running to extinction. She live in caves and dense forest.
3. The coqui. Is a small frog that in some way is the symbol of the Island. The frog emit the sound "coqui coqui" that you can hear at night in almost any place of the Island.
4. The Puerto Rican Parrot. The parrot is color green with a small strip of red. In old times she was all around the Island but right now she only lives in El Yunque Rain Forest where she is breeding by ecologist.

I also like la reinita (small bird ), the Paso Fino horses and the sea turtles like the Carey. We also have some imported animals that are causing problems like the Gallina de Palo a lizard that comes from the pets shops.

Look Away, I'm Hideous
There are monkeys, large rodents, tropical fish, reptiles, goats. look on wikipedia.
