Yes it is English, don't forget Bermuda is still a British Oversea Territory .
And believe it or not people from different parts of the island do have different accents.
Considering the island is only 22 square miles I find that amazing.
I have recently moved here and often have difficulty understanding certain words or phrases spoken with native tung.
To me it sounds like a mix of Queens English, Jamaican and something else I cant figure.
If you can prove your origins to Bermuda it may be worth seeing if you have any claim to Bermuda status or citizenship. Dual Bermudian citizenship or even status can have many advantages.
You should definitely look deeper into it, if you can make that happen many doors will be open for you in the future. |

English is the main language of tourism and business in Bermuda. Locals may speak a variety of European languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, and French, but English is the language of daily life.
As a result, Bermuda should be very navigable for tourists from other English-speaking countries. Keep in mind, however, that English does vary from region to region, so certain colloquialisms may not be recognized in Bermuda.
Likewise, visitors may find some islanders' expressions and accents difficult to understand. The key to communication across such cultural boundaries is to be polite and patient |

I lived in Bermuda for two years from 1948 -1950. The main language is English. A little French is spoken and there is a dialect very much like that spoken in the Carribean area. English with an accent - easily understood. |

The island is a self governed British protectorate "colony" therefore the official languange is British nglish. However, as it has been stated there are a number of ex-pats from all over so you may hear a variety of languages.
Also, off topic FYI the US dollar converts 1 to 1 to Bermudian Dollar - so the US dollar is accepted island-wide. |
