Jamaican is a nationality nothing to do with color. if you go to JA, you will see differenet race and mixes, whose family have been on the Island for many generations and consider them selves Jamaican no matter what color. There are blacks who consider themselves Jamaicans first before calling themselves black, on top of that some of us have ancestors that might be black , white, chinese or indian.. . |

It depends on who you ask. Jamaican is a person that was born and raised in Jamaica. It does not matter that he is white, he is technically still Jamaican. Just like we have Americans here in the US that are black, Chinese, Mexican or whatever. They may be of Chinese decent, but they are still American because they are a citizen of the US. So, since your great grandfather was born and raised there(I am guessing), he was a citizen of Jamaica, which makes him Jamaican. Hope that helps you! |

Why are classifying jamaicans as one race?
I think its so silly when foriegners say, "oh, i know he's jamaican becuz he's black" One person said, Bob Marley HAS TO BE full black because he's jamaican. When in actuality..he is indeed a mix of both black and white..
I know it was not intentional, but you sounded really ignorant there. Your uncle was born in Jamaica..therefore classifying him as a jamaican! If he disrupts the peace in a foriegn place..guess where he's being deported..not Europe..but JAMAICA!
SO the fact that he was BORN in Jamaica makes him indeed Jamaican..with possible Jamaican roots as well as many other roots. The same way blacks can have MORE than just AFRICAN roots! |

Just because you are born somewhere does not necessarily make you that nationality. I was born in Japan but I am in now way Japanese. |

I know it all

There r a couple of answers
1. Birth place - If you were born in Jamaica.
2. Home - Where you reside - makes you a citizen of that country if you have migrated from somewhere else.
3. Inheritance - If you adapt the culture, over a period of time, you could be accepted by the people, as part of the family.
4. A "wanna be" would technically make you a "fake Jamaican." that would make you a "Jafaikan" |
