What should I do during a weekend trip to Puerto Rico?

Hey guys, I'm a 20 yo college guy planning a short trip to Puerto Rico (San Juan) December 6-9 to escape the insanity of school, lol. I'm just looking for recommendations, etc. on what to do the ~2.5 days I'm there. Nightlife (gay), outdoor, and just overall young guy activities...

I'd really like to go to the radio telescope in Arecibo--maybe not for a full tour, but just to see it. (I'm a die hard James Bond fan and must make a pilgrimage to the cradle from GoldenEye!) So suggestions of things in Arecibo to do are welcome as well.

Thanks for any info...

Ok I just want to tell you that the Arecibo Telescope is great to see. It is up high in the lush green mountains & looks like something straight out of the future. Def don't miss it! It is about an hour & 1/2 drive from San Juan to Arecibo. So if u are comfortable u can rent a car (thrifty near the airport is about $35/day) & get a map & drive there. Or they have tours from San Juan that go to Arecibo Telescope & Camuy Caves in 1 day for around $85. It's only $5 to get in, but if u take the tour thats included. Its like a science museum w/ cool space stuff to check out & a gift shop & then u walk outside & see the Telescope. If you want to take the tour check out this below, they have a date open for Dec 8th.

--------------------------------------...

While your in San Juan u need to go to 'El Morro' the 500+ yr old war fort overlooking the ocean, its beautiful & also walk the old cobblestone streets of Old San Juan & u can shop colorful artisan shops & boutiques & def eat the local cuisine. Puerto Rican food is delicious. There is alot of nightlife in San Juan & legal drinking age is 18 so party up!! & Bacardi rum is produced in PR so its cheap if u buy it at the right places, tourist areas they will inflate it of course. & San Juan has some good beaches too, Isla Verde is nice.

If u find extra time u can go to 'El Yunque' rainforest this is a 45 minute drive from San Juan & they also have tours too. & at night u can go to 1 of the bioluminescent bays where the water glows in the dark. There is 1 in Fajardo right next to the rain forest or u can take the ferry to Vieques 6 miles away & go to mosquito bay's bio bay. However w/ 2.5 days u probably wont have time to fit this in. So enjoy the telescope & San Juan's history & beach es & food & nightlife!

Hey, PR is a great place to visit. You HAVE to go to a restaurant called Bebo's in San Juan. I forget exactly where it is, but the food is some of the best in the city.

As for nightlife, there are one or two gay clubs. Eros is one. Condado in San Juan is a pretty big gay area. Atlantic Beach Hotel has a great ocean-front bar for relaxing.

Outdoors, you can take a day-trip to El Yunque rainforest.

Have fun!

For history - Old San Juan
For rainforest- El Yunque ( about 45 min. from San Juan)
For shopping -Plaza Las Americas
For fun - beaches all around the Island (luquillo, the best)
For surfing- Piñones, and La Ocho (8) in Old San Juan
surfers are friendly and help a lot
For nightlife-Old San Juan or Condado
For stay - get around and stay in Guest Houses around the Ocean Park Area. Hotels are expensive.
