Cigars are good value here but not appropriate if he doesn't smoke ! A bottle of Dominican Rum is inexpensive. The coffee here is generally good quality and cheap, I always take a few bags back to Europe when I go on vacation.
Avoid art work as a lot of it is just mass produced crap that you could buy anywhere else on the planet. Be wary of buying souvenirs from beach vendors as again a lot of it is just random stuff left over from somewhere else eg. would you really want to buy a carved 'mahogany' elephant, with missing tusk, when you are visiting the Dom Rep ?

Here i'm again to help you. Well you can buy a lot of things, but first thing first ; Don't buy the "souvenirs" in tourist areas you gonna pay the double or even more... Every friday there is a trip to Santiago a VIP shopping day, take contact if you like to do this. Other nice things to do are " Waterfall Discovery" - "Isabella Historica" ( these excursions are not available in the hotels) hoop you will enjoy it! Bye Bye |

Besides all other suggestions I would recommend something that is VERY particular and part of only our culture…is called “Mamajuana”. This is a bottle filled with special roots and special woods that get filled with Dominican Rum for some time until it gets a special taste. You can get this at most supermarkets or “Mercados”(Market) but like the other I would suggest not to get at tourist places cause they will charge you 3 times its price. |

Bring him whatever you want. You know him and you should know what he likes. It doesn't have to be big and expensive, just show him you were thinking of him during your vacation! You will know it when you find it. Souvernirs are not to be planned in advance. |
