First of all Congrats!! I think all babies are a blessing :) People need to remember that having a child in no way ruins your life unless you alow it to and I definitely know what you're going through since when I got pregnant with my first I was in my final year at UWI; my now husband (we weren't married at the time) and I decided that a termination was not an option and right now we're doing great; I finished my degree while six moths along and I just found out I got accepted into a Masters' programme. I think you're even better off than me since health care is practically free now (altho time consuming). Either way Good Luck with whatever you decide!!
Edit: Just read your update and YAY!! I hope u have a happy healthy pregnancy!!

Life always finds a way. You will probably need to make some sacrifices, but they will all be worth it.

I do not know a SINGLE mother who carried her baby to term who wished they had an abortion, but i know MANY women who wished they didn't have one and felt bad about it for decades to come.

Whether birth control failed or was not present isn't a factor. The fact is that you are now pregnant and need to decide what to do.

Is adoption an option in Jamaica? There are many folks in the US that advertise that they will pay medical and legal expenses in connection to an adoption, so that may be something you can explore through a healthcare center or family planning clinic.

Unfortunately, money is tight all over. The old saying "If you wait until you can afford to have children no one would ever have children" is very true. Kids cost money but somehow we manage to do the best for our kids that we are able. It's not money alot of times, it's the love you give the child.

If abortion is not against your religion, and you can find a family planning clinic that offers those services and that's the road that is right for you, than take it. But if you know the father (not judging here, just stating facts) maybe he'll either pitch in on the cost of the procedure or will want to be financially responsible for his baby. You should ask him what he wants to do as well.

Whatever decision you make, it will be the right one for you.

Tawwy mi sista, yuh waan Shakka be de godfather, yes ar no?

Jah will bless you and your precious child my sister.
Keep the faith.
One Love.

That's Miss Cissoko to you!
If there's a will there's a way!! God will make it happen. Have your baby...nothing but positive things are going to come from your situation. Don't let an abortion be your first choice. I recently had an abortion but if I can take it back I would. Make sure your making the right decisions before making a choice.

I think you already know what to do this is your statement "yes i know the father, we've been together for five years and he desperatly wants a child however his income is not stable," so here he/she come so dont mess with this Blessing.....

If you want to keep the baby ask the father of the baby to support you. I don;t know the child support available in your country. Some maintenance of the child. He is responsible for his creation...his lovely child.

I think you should quit the car payments by getting some one to bust up the car and collect money from your insurance agent and pay of the car. This is probably ideal crazy thinking and may not even work to your advantage. But I've been in your situation before where I had to pay car payments. It was a HUGE set back and I'm glad I got rid of it.

I think you'll be fine, you sound like you have a good head on your shoulders. But just think the money that you spend on your car, could go towards savings for your baby. Don't stress yourlsef out over material things.

A cheap Toyota goes alonnnnnnnng way :)

Don't pay any mind to the judgmental people. There will always be people there to judge you - it's your decision.

Do YOU want the child? Do you love the man? If you wait for the circumstances to be perfect you might wait forever. Try and put yourself in different situations: do you thing you will regret it if you abort? will boyfriend resent you either way? how reliable is he?

Do you have extended family you can turn to? A great many mothers in Jamaica manage on very little thanks to their own mothers /aunties/ sisters etc.

I don't know if you know where to get an abortion in Ja, if that's what you decide. Remember it's illegal. There used to be an ob/gyn in Cross Roads who did them, but extreme discretion is required.

You have a huge decision to make. Good luck.

Well first off, congratulations on your pregnancy! Babies are a gift of God, a miracle. If anyone waited until they could really afford them, no one would have them, we never could, didn't plan pregnancies, but are very blessed with two children.
Believe me growing up for me was a lot worse than this recession, my mom raised three of us alone, dad was never around. And as bad as things seem, they always work out somehow.
Do see a doctor, talk with them and find all there is to know about this. Somebody may even pay you to carry the child for them. But I'd have to say things happen for a reason, I believe. You can still go back to school later (or during pregnancy), renovate home after, it will all work out.
If the child's father is ready, that's great. My husband has usually had iffy paying jobs, or unsteady jobs (construction), so we never know how much he would be making, makes it tough.
Best to all of you, hope to visit Jamaica soon, been one of my dreams. (Maybe I'll babysit for you while I'm there in a couple of years, I love babies!)

Mmmmm!

You 'found out' you were pregnant? Were you not there when it happened?

If you cannot afford to have children, or simply don't want a family at this time, should you not have been more careful?

What about the father? What does he think about it? Should you not discuss it with him first?

It is no harder for you than us right now, we are losing jobs in the US faster than lightening. You had sex, you take responsibilty.
