What to do and not do a Bahamas cruise?
It's my first time on a cruise so I want to know all the things you would definitely want to see and what to avoid. I'm going on a Royal Carribean cruise.
Don't just sit on the boat when it stops, check with the concierge and your travel info about shore activities at the various stops. Talk to the crew about the best things to do on and off the boat, they WILL know!
DO - Use your cabin ONLY for sleeping. Explore every area of the ship you can access and ask about seeing areas you can't. You can watch TV at home! :-)
DON'T - Try to save money, no one ever looked back on a vacation with fond memories for the money they saved by NOT doing something. Worry about finances when you get back. ENJOY THE MOMENTS!

Sorry I can't really help, I'm going through the same thinking right now. I'm going on a Royal Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas soon too! It'll also be my first cruise. :] When are you going?

To do: have a blast
Don't do: during Happy Hour, grab a waitress and go *snif* "You smell smoke?"

Rent a car for the day, and get out of the cruise port area, see what the island is really like, the downtown areas are not a very good representation of the rest of the island.

Atlantis is a definite must see. theres also the straw market and the in port shopping market area. I love the bahamas its beautiful!

First thing you need to do when you get aboard the ship is to visit immediately the excursion office and ask for the daily excursions of each of the port itineraries. Choose the best one of course of your interest.Don't just sit down in every stop over of the ship. Every port in Caribbean has unique and detailed approach of locals to their visitors. The ports in Bahamas are all very interesting place. Nassau is a shopper paradise , good beaches and casinos. Don't forget to visit the Atlantis , The Paradise Island and The Cable beach. Nightlife is great .Freeport also is the same as well the Gran Bahama. Avoid dealings with locals which is against the rules of the law.Watch your clock and don't forget the time is too limited in the ports.Enjoy your cruise.

I put vodka into water bottles to avoid paying a high price on the boat.
I was walking around on shore...hot as hell. reached in my bag for a big gulp of water and got 110 degree vodka instead.
