Congratulations!

St John is beautiful and one of the prettiest islands in the Caribbean. What makes St John so special is there are only 2 big resorts on the island. (The Westin and Caneel Bay) Many small B&B type lodging. No big resorts lining the pristine beaches.

The island is 2/3rds park land.
This is an island waiting to be explored. Definitely rent a 4WD jeep and explore the island. Bring your camera, many photo ops. Snokeling, diving,swimming, hiking, kayaking, boating, dining are just some of the things visitors do on this lovely island.

You will be plotting while you are there how and when you can get back. It's an addicting type of island. It's paradise.

St. John is indeed beautiful and ultra expensive. Spend time on some of the unspoiled beaches. I like Caneel Bay. Also, they have a national underwater park where you can snorkel. Take a ferry ride to St. Thomas Charlotte Amalie (if you go to Red Hook on St. Thomas you must take a cab to get to Charlotte Amalie). The ride is short and inexpensive and there is a lot of shopping and native markets.

WOW ! how nice! You know ,... there is a sea plane that I would highly recommend that you both do!!!It can take you to a few destinations that are somewhat isolated. That was our high lite of our trip! Imagine the fun! Other than the beach and fab shopping and the great nite time little pubs there's not that much to do,... but hey!!! UR on an island for that reason!! Have a Blast and Congrats

If you're up for an easy hike to some "deserted" beaches, check out the Linde Point Trail in the National Park [try the NPS website or just search for Linde Point Trail]. It goes from Cruz Bay over the hill and down to Salomon Bay Beach and Honeymoon Bay Beach, then connects to a trail to Caneel Bay, where you can get a cab back to Cruz Bay. There are no facilities at all at SBB and HBB, but also [almost] no people.

If its your honeymoon, you should definitely:

Enjoy the view from the bedroom
Hit the beaches
Pack a picnic and do a small sunset hike - bring flashlights
Dive or parasail together
Rent a jeep and explore the island for a day - get lost along the way
Have a burger at Skinny Legs in Coral Bay
Eat a $6 plate from Hercules on Thursday
Do a romantic dinner at Zozo's or in your villa
Drink rum
Wear sunscreen

You can rent a boat at the ferry port in St. John w/ a captain for 400-600, from there you can go to many areas/beaches that are better than a Corona beer commercial- we did this and it was the best part of our trip, lots of other islands to see, many you see what the real caribbean looks like.

We have snorkeled at about six to eight different places in the Caribbean, and St. Thomas was by far the best experience. We were part of a group from a cruise that went out on a sailboat to a smaller nearby island. We saw the most sealife and most variety of any snorkeling trip.

take a sunset sail on the sailboat "pepper" out of Maho bay. you wont be dissapointed.
