What was your experience like in the dominican republic ? we need some advice?

hello

me and my boyfriend are thinking of going on holiday next year to the dominican republic, but we are quite unsure about what there is to do ? we are 19 and 20 years old and enjoy clubbing but want to go somewhere new as we have both been to such places as ibiza and magaluf, does anyone think we will enjoy dominican replublic ?

it looks like such a beautiful place , we dont just want a clubbing holiday but it would be good if we have a few nights out

I have only one thing to say : Don't believe that this country is dangerous or any other lie the jealous people tells you!
Go to Puerto Plata, north coast of this beautiful island and go to one of the many resorts and you will party and beaching as much you like!
Discovering this country is also a must because you will see thing you never saw before!
Enjoy your stay!

I am 19 and have been 3 times so far (twice this year).

I had a GREAT experience in Puerto Plata.
The best hotel I have experienced is the RIU Mambo where there is a nightclub on site and various great options for entertainment everynight on the complex.

I am a young keen clubber myself and loved every minute of it.
The music is up to date and the DJ is more than happy to play any tracks you like - drinks are all free too due to the night club being on complex and it all being part of you're inclusive package.

The Dominican Republic is the cheapest country within the Caribbean not only for holiday package prices but once out there too. Alcohols so cheap - not that its relevant if you plan to go all inclusive.
The alcohol also isn't watered down.

Clubbing in Puerto Plata is very safe. I myself went with my 20 year old cousin.. two white girls..who obviously stood out in a Dominican club where the majority were black. We loved every minute of it.
Music was good - drinks were good & the people couldn't do enough for you. Such cheap nights out too. 99% spoke English.

Myself and my cousin LOVED the Dominican Republic.

Honestly, you need to go and experience it for yourself. Puerto Plata is definitely the place to go though for the best beaches in the Dominican Republic and for the nightlife. This is the place to be.
Theres tonnes to see and do here - and everywheres safe just use you're common sense and you'll be fine.

If theres any more questions you have feel free to message me. I have experienced alot of the Dominican Republic and being the same age and into the same things. I think I could point you in the right direction.

Have a great time in the Dominican Republic. Its a great place if you go to the right places that suit you're personal interests.

I wish I was going back sooner.

Regards,
Gemma

My exprience was amazing and the night life their is great. We stayed at an all enclusive resort called Breezes in Puerto Plata and they have great night life right at the resort. Lots of bars ect, and it is also close to a city which is really nice. Have fun :)

Most people go to Dominican Republic to stay at the all-inclusive resorts. There are many of them, and they are a lot of fun.

They have plenty of things to do to keep you busy -- kayaking, snorkeling, scuba, catamarans, para sailing, banana boat rides, even classes.

Some of the activities at the resorts are free and some cost extra. We paid a little extra money to go "resort diving," which is scuba for people who have never done it before. It was great, and I highly recommend it.

In addition, you can sign up for excursions at many of these resorts. They will drive you from the resort to where the excursion takes place so you don't have to worry about safety issues.

Regarding the other answers to your questions, I wouldn't say that DR is very safe or very unsafe. You just need to use a little caution if you go out on your own.

We went shopping in a nearby village and faced numerous aggressive shopkeepers. Most of them were nice, we never felt threatened or in danger, but we saw some people hanging around near the shops that looked at us in a way that made us more careful.

Based on what I saw, I wouldn't be concerned about shopping during the day, but I definitely would not go out at night. There is a reason why resorts are surrounded by tall fences with barbed wire.

It's not true about the Dominican Republic is a boring place, it such a big lie, as somebody said to you, keep in mind that will be a new experience, a difference country for you, another culture, Dominican Republic is a nice place with friendly people, a lot of things to do, you both can go to Punta Cana or Cabarete and enjoy a wonderful and unforgettable vacation.

Go to the following links, read and see the videos and you will see the people having a enjoyable vacation;

If you want clubbing definitely go to Cancun, Mexico. That's the perfect place to have a nice relaxing vacation at a beautiful resort with beautiful beaches and they have plenty of clubs to chose from. Cancun is very safe and you can walk to most of the clubs and bars if you stay in the hotel zone.

I've never been to the dominican republic, but from what you described Cancun is the perfect place for you.

me and my bf (24 and 25) went and had a great time!!! Keep in mind you are going to a different country, the food is OK at best, the drinks are watered down. But the beaches are BEAUTIFUL and the activities are fun (horseback riding, snorkeling, ATVing, etc). We stayed in Puerta Plata and also Punta Cana. If you are looking for night life, definetly do Punta Cana, they are usually "discos" in the hotels but they are not ususally crowded.

Try www.travelzoo.com for some GREAT all-inclusive deals (A-I is the only way to go!!)

and then you can read reviews on www.tripadvisor.com for each hotel. BEWARE most people are really negative so keep in mind these are peoples opinions and if they have a bad experiance they write horrible reviews. I always read the positive ones (they usually give the good with the bad).

My boyfriend and I went this past summer (we are 22 and 25) I would NOT go back. You have to stay in your resort unless you are on a scheduled tour during the day time. It is very dangerous there and going to the same pool, restaurants, clubs and casinos ( you can only go to the one your resort will have) for a week is boring! I would recommend the bahamas as that was great when i went there!!!
