What will happen in Cuba when Castro dies?

If Castro dies, first they will not announce it until they have a plan ready. Raul (his brother) has been running the country for some time now and will continue to do so when Fidel passes. The Cuban people have been quite passive since Fidel first took over and do not have weapons at the ready. Unlike some other countries, they do not riot in the street, throw rocks & bottles, etc. It is unclear what the US intends to do, whether they will try to step in at that point or wait until Raul dies as well. We are planning a trip in July to visit my husband's family, and will be watching intently before we go. best advice I can give, is pay attention to the news and watch the situation carefully before heading out on your trip.

Other than a big state funeral, probably nothing that's not happening now. Castro's brother has been running things since last summer. That's not going to change if the old boy dies. It's what happens after Raul dies (he's 75) that we need to worry about.

His brother will rule Cuba. IF he dies also their is PROBABLY going to be chaos, hunger, and people dying and the United States will take over the same way as what they did with Puerto Rico.

All hell is going to break loose! If I were you, I would either prepare myself for anything, or just hold off on the Cuba trip until there is a clearer sense as to what direction the country is going. The U.S. wants Cuba like they had it when Batista ruled. That's why the U.S. hates Castro so much. And that's why they can't wait for him to die. So they can swoop down and seize the prey...just like vultures do.

History will add one more person into the book. Cuba will change from History, but not for us to predict then.

Hopefully Cuba will be free but Bush will probably try to make Cuba part of the U.S. or somehow try to control Cuba. That or Cuba will rebel and we will all have a missle crisis or something. Who knows. Very unpredictable

Hopefully Cuba can be free again. I know many Cuban refugees and they left friends and family because of that dictator. If I were you; I wouldn't contribute to the dictatorship which is exactly what you are doing. People like you have help keep the freedom of the people arrested.
