You best stay in your house (if you are rich and live in a nice place). It depends on where you go as to if you see "poor people and very dirty areas." If you go to some rich neighborhood, you might see lower class people, even in someplace like Hollywood. Why go away if you don't want to see the culture of the area? Just because an area has "poor people" doesn't mean there aren't good experiences to be gained by associating with "poor people." I would not eat at a restaurant that was "very dirty" but I would not hesitate to visit some "very dirty areas." If you go to Negril, I recommend you stay in your hotel exclusively. The employees at the hotel will be trained to handle rude guests like you. Also you won't have the chance to tarnish the reputation of all the citizens from your country so your countrymen will thank you also.

Well If you don't want to see "poor people and dirty areas", don't go to a 3rd world country then.

Poor people are people. No different from you or me. It's not like every poor person chose to be that way. Money is hard in times like this. Prices are sky high !

Anyway Negril is a party place lots of partying and good vibes. You can try the Beaches Resort in Negril. Poor people are everywhere so have a fun time trying to escape them.

it's ok in Negril, why don't you try Dubai or somewhere like that if you don't want to see "poor people"?

Elle
Jamaica is a less economically developed country. There are going to be poor people. If you can't deal with that, don't go.
Personally, I would feel obliged to help these people if I visited their country, but that's just my opinion.
Maybe you should go somewhere where there isn't a poor population.

I hear the Antarctic is very nice this time of year.

Well maybe you should consider going to Monaco. A part of any country's charm is meeting and learning about the "real people." If you like, you can stay in an all-inclusive resort where you can remain secluded and away from the population. You'll get pampered by staff that cater to tourists but you'll never really learn about the country or its people.
