Only take dollars if that is your home currency. If you are in the UK or Europe, take Sterling or Euros, otherwise you will lose 2x on the conversion. In the DR I would use only pesos, but you can get them at any ATM as long as you have an ATM card with CIRRUS, MAESTRO, or NYCE. ATM's give the best rates.

Paige S
You will get a better rate if you convert to Dominican Pesos.

in my opinion i would definitely take pesos. Me and family have been to domrep twice so far this year and took dollars. Lost out so much because of the fees of getting them changed to pesos.

Definitely would take pesos!

Take dollars.

mostly the locals use the peso, foreigners use the dollar.

Take dollars, you can use them, change them or use a credit card or ATM machine. The weather stays the same most of the time, August is very warm. Usually if there is rain it is a short shower.

take the american dollar- try and take small notes- if you going to dom rep you are most likely going all inclusive and wont need an awful lot of money anyhow, just dollars for tips.
have a grea time !
