Purely Jamaica

I'll spare you a lecture about going out and experiencing Jamaica beyond smoking some spliffs. Some of the best friendships I made in Jamaica-Negril especially, were started with a spliff.

You will be offered herb after you pass through customs / immigration from the porters. Then the taxi drivers. Then the hotel people. Then people on the beach. You get the picture.

Avoid buying it in the airport. I just don't trust that place. I'd rather make my deals away from airport surveillance.

Don't say anything about Tony Montana. You'll sound like a dumb tourist. Do NOT try to bring anything back. Its not worth getting caught.
After leaving the airport, you can buy from anyone who you feel comfortable dealing with. You don't buy herb by the gram or joint in Jamaica. You can buy the equivilant of an 8th or so for around $10. If they try to charge you more, then your being ripped off. Walk away and talk to someone else. Most of the "rasta's" on the beach are just hustlers trying to rip you off. There's ZERO shortage of people willing to sell to you for what YOU want to pay. Don't be bullied or intimidated into buying something for more than you want. Just a simple, "respect Mon"--then walk away. There's better deals out there, but the average tourist isn't usually very street savvy. My point--you won't have to ask anyone. It'll be offered constantly.

Smoking in public is common. Just don't act like an idiot in public and you'll be fine. I've had cops walk right behind me and not say a word. If you tip your security guard on the beach, they'll let you know when its safe or not. If your in doubt, goto your room. I can't think of one time where I was told not to smoke somewhere, other than seeing a sign posted about not smoking ganja.

Treat the people with respect, have fun, and lastly, smoke one for me!!

Pot is easy to "score" in JA...its as easy as beer or anything else you want, and cheap too. Yes, you'll have ppl trying to sell you off the street, in a store, in the market. It really isn't that big a deal as long as you don't try smoking in public ( unless your a rasta ).....but is STILL illegal, and you may get arrested, not when buying it..cops will not be doing "stings" to bust you...but they MAY take all the money you have so they DON'T arrest you !

I tend to agree with PLEASANT...Jamaica is ALOT more than weed....take in some culture !

Pretty much everyone sells it and yes, they all ask if there is anything they can get you. We were asked several times before we made it to the resort with only one stop along the way from the airport. We were told that its a billion dollar a year business and as long as you are discrete about it they leave you alone. Get it from someone at the hotel. They all have it. Trust me. Have a good time.

I was in Jamaica in 2004 and going again next month. As long as we stayed on our resort we had no issues or signs of drug pushing. We left our resort just walking down the beach for an outdoor restaurant. We were offered a joint the size of a cigar - I've never done it so I was sorta freaked out. We did not take the offer but the man followed us harassing us to buy it - we finally got off the beach onto the road and didnt have any more offers until the taxi ride. We were pushed to buy in the taxi's too. You will have NO trouble finding it. :-)

Stop by the nearest police station and ask officer brown for a 'spliff', and a 3 month rest in a not so crowded cell.
Jamaica is more than just pot, if you need to smoke stay home and make a news-paper 'spliff' fill it with all the news you hear, and puff away.

tron.qui, you dont know the **** what youre talking about. Jamaica is not only made up of pot, drugs, and crime. It is a beautiful place too. You should cut that trash talk and go find a LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!. Wanna talk bad about something, talk about yourself.

There are 3 things that Jamaica is full of... POT and DRUGS and CRIME.. and it's ALL OVER THE ISLAND... and the cops are so stupid, you can buy a KILO and take it back on the plane or cruise ship with you and they will never notice it or even care... so puff away and take some home to enjoy
