Mommy's Sunday lunch.....white rice, potato salad, macaroni pie (yes all three!!) stew chicken with plenty sauce, (allyuh realize it eh have no gravy in Trinidad, only sauce lol) roast beef or pork, fried plantain and it always have callaloo and provision but I doh eat dat. Oh and it must have Trinidad Grapefruit juice with a dash of bitters to drink. |

I love so many Trini dishes, i don't even know if I have a favorite.
But here goes.
1. Coo Coo, Callaloo with Crab and some Stew Red Fish with plenty sauce ( not gravy, sauce, we are talking about Trini Food here) lol
2. Typical Sunday Lunch
Stew Chicken, Oxtail, Boiled Plantains, Sweet Potato.
Macaroni Pie, Potato Salad, Green Tossed Salad, Red Beans and Plain Brown Rice.
3. Provisions and Salt fish
4. Oil Down with Breadfruit and Dumplings with Steam King Fish
5. Roti and everything curry that goes along with it.
I have more , but will stop here.. just writing this is getting me hungry, so I think I'm going to make # 1 for tonight's dinner.
I almost forgot, Pelau with Pigeon Peas, not rice and peas, It's PELAU... lol and Trinidad Grapefruit Juice with Bitters, gosh, I love that juice. |
