When is Puerto Rico's Independence day? |
I was raised in PR but I forgot because everyone keeps thinking (here in WI) that Puerto Ricans celebrate Cinco de Mayo.

all of these people are wrong except the first person that answered typsn. the real independence of PR was the day that PR and spain no longer had any ties, and when the US then took over PR as a territory. These was the year times of the 1800's. June and July 25 do celebrate constitutional political traditions and the 4 of july its the independence of the US , but we do celebrate it as well for PR its affiliated with the US as a common wealth. |

Puerto Rico is a Commonwealth of the United States (a Colony) we dont have independence day. When we get our independece out of US that would be the day.
The constitution day is July 25. |

El único dÃa feriado en PR del dÃa de la independencia es : 4 de julio. Osea en otra palabras el dÃa de EEUU. PR = colonia estadounidense. Eso lo dan siempre en la escuela. Nosotros no somos mexicanos para celebrar el 5 de mayo, además el 5 de mayo no es el dÃa de la independencia mexicana. |

Part of us celebrate 4th of July, not 5th of May, that is for mexicans.
Some puertorricans celebrate our Constitution Day in 25th July which was official in 1952.
Also in that date the pro-independence remembers when a group of puertorricans fought against US invasion (1898). Another date is 23th Sept, where a small failed revolt ocurred during the years of Spain rule over PR.
However, none of those dates are Independence of PR. |
