It is pretty popular but you hear a lot more Bachata nowadays. Merengue is faster and it's easier to dance to it in crowded bars than Bachata. Merengue is a two-step and Bachata is a four step and Merengue is much faster. A lot of Dominican bars have speakers the size of a fridge and it's normal for your drinks to shake from the sound. |
