When should you not go to the Carribbean?

What is the weather like in the first 3 weeks of April in the Carribbean Islands, ie Barbados area, thinking of cruising to there, also would call in at Maderia.

I went to Barbados in May and it was lovely but it's advised that November to April is the best time to go. We didn't realise this and apparently were very lucky with the weather. So yes the first 3 weeks of April will be nice!!!
Enjoy!

During the huricane season is the one time U need to be the mos carefull when going to the caribbean.

However, Aruba Bonaire and Curacao have no huricane season so far, too far south of the path of the huricanes

There is never a time to not go to the Caribbean. It's always beautiful. All you have to do is check travel advisories for possible weather systems if you want to travel during the hurricane season. But in April, it is absolutely breathtaking...it's usually warm and bright so all you want to do is roam the beaches and trailparks

tiny_lou1965
if you go to barbados, the weather never really gets THAT bad(well ok, it can sometimes but not too often)
oct to march is hurricane season but it never gets the brunt of bad weather(god is a bajan remember!)JUST GO!
there is no bad time to go the barbados...
well, maybe Kadooment, as it gets so busy, but that isnt til aug!

Spent many months cruising the Caribbean. Been there 3 times through April and its always been perfect...take plenty of suntan cream though!

Don't go in the middle of a hurricane. Last 3 weeks of April, no hurricanes, maybe a little rain and A LOT of sunshine.

Gonna be hot when ever you go, Hurricane Season would be the worst time to go the water is very choppy ;-( that is from I think June or July to end of October

Its the summer through to December. During this time its hurricane season and also very hot and humid.

But its not a hard rule. Years ago I was in Florida in July and had a very good holiday. Just the best time is suppose to be Christmas and onwards.

I thought it was advisable not to go during hurricane season but I'm not sure when that is. i think its in the summer but i have been to the Caribbean in May, August and September and the weather has been glorious all three times... Barbados is beautiful too!

There is no such thing as a time you should not go to the Caribbean.Even during the hurricanse season we are very much sunny and bright.Jsu keep abreast of the tropical systems evolving and stuff.

having lived in the Caribbean 35 years, I'll agree with those that say the hurricane season is form June 1 to Dec 1.so we are now out of it.....the weather the first 3 weeks of April will be winds east 10-15 mph, daytime highs in the 80's, lows in the high 70's; chance of rain in short showers about 30%

and by the way, Madeira is in the Azores, which is about 2500 miles Northeast of the Caribbean.....

are you talking about taking a cruise ship or sailing your own boat over here? I have 20,000 odd miles sailing small boats around and would be happy to offer thoughts......

gallookgud
There really is no time that you should not go to the Caribbean. The Caribbean islands are generally sunny all year around even during the hurricane season which officially begins in June.

As for Barbados (I am a Barbadian), we have not encountered a major hurricane since 1966.

A cruise to the islands is a wonderful idea. I recently went on a cruise smack dab in the middle of the "hurricane season" and boy was it hot. I only experienced drizzles of rain in Aruba which is one of the driest islands in the Caribbean. It is covered in cacti.

Hurricane season from June to November 30.
