Where can I go in Cuba?

Can anyone advise me? I keep getting really confused the more I look : S

I ideally would like to spend 4 days in havana and then a week at a beautiful resort which also has quite a bit to offer in a cultural sense as well.

My advise is not go. At least, not now.
Why do you want to visit the last comunist country in America ?

To see the disaster that a couple of dictators have caused ?
Just observe that we try desperately to escape, often at risk of our lives

Joe.attaboy is totally right ! My full support to him

Well, you might go to see the Coma Andante, and determine whether it is still alive.

Note: the thumbs down that somebody mentions may be because, as somebody says, your money would help the brothers to stay in power.

But that is only me, I am Cuban and we have suffered 50 years of the worst dictatorship in America. It hurts

But non Cubans just don't care

If you ask for advice, I would say that it is not a good idea to go now.

Your money would help the cruel dictators that torture their people to stay in power.

But that's just me. It hurts me because I am Cuban. Other people just don't care

Here's a crazy thought: maybe this person posting on UK Answers is ..... from the UK!!!

No way.

Could it possibly be that people exist in countries other than America?

Anyway, I hear Varadero is a lot better for young people. There is a lot more to do there and the beaches are great. Although, unfortunately, I haven't been to Cuba myself. You'll have a wicked time! :D

Varadero is so cute and for american people is the place that looks more like the U.S and the beach is so good but actually i love Cienfuegos is so pretty and you fell so good there specially in the Malecon is so nice i went there in june and i love it i am going back next year

Chris R
If you live in the states, isn't it illegal to go to Cuba? You would have to look at a Canadian site or something.

Riki
As Azumi posted there is more to the world than the U. S. Brits, Europeans and Canadians all love to visit Cuba. It can get very confusing as to where to go, that's for sure. Varadero is often a good choice to combine with Havana because of the proximity, it's only about an hours drive. Havana is incredible it combines recent history with history going back 500 years plus the culture. Many tour companies offer combo tours which may suit you. Check the links below for some info you may find of help. You'll probably in due time see a lot of thumbs down from some people who visit this site, I'm sure you can figure that out. In any case, you'll love Cuba and the Cubans who welcome tourists to their beautiful country. Chances are you go once you'll be back. Check the link for tripadvisor, you can see lots of reviews. Edit, This is a Canadian, British, Australian site, in short it is the English speaking site.

Your best bet would be go stay in Varadero. It is very close to Havana and easy to travel to and from.

If you want to be in and around cultural/local environments, you can either stay at a resort (since Varadero resorts are accessible to local areas), or stay at a casa particular. However, you won't find that in Varadero...but you will in Havana.

Might I suggest a Sol Melia resort.

Obviously we know you can think for yourself and know whether you can travel somewhere or not. As we know, not all who are on y/a are from the US lol.

Have a great time in Cuba! But most of all, be sure to get to know Cuban hospitality. The most genuine and warmest :-)
