People on those islands do what people everywhere do. They work in retail, transportation, industry, government services, etc. Most of the people living on Caribbean islands are not well off financially. Often they work very long hours and the labor is hard. Unemployment is high and everyone knows there is someone waiting for a job so the conditions are tolerated. |

Jamaicans like any other country has a main city with other minor cities which provides the majority of the professional jobs for the residents. The island is not that small as you make it seem.
Ofcourse they do have enough for living....do a google search and get more opinions. |

my yute dont ask them question deh. You think Caribbean people are poor and illiterate. You want to know how much rich educated people live in the Caribbean! You need to wheel and come again. I wonder what u do for a living? Just because our economy might not be as good as yours dont mean we are starving and looking like hungry dogs. Dont make mi get 'dark'. And to u DAVE DUNCAN is people like u sterotype us as paupers. Dont grudge we cuz we have di vybz. |

Most work in the tourist industry. They work in hotels, restaurants, retail stores, bartenders and housekeeping etc.
They also work in banks, real estate, fishing industry just like the people of USA.
Do they have enough for living? I think so. They adjust to their situation. I have found most islanders are very happy. |

As far as I have plenty of friends from Barbados, they work in banks, hotels, restaurants. One of my friends want to open a restaurant or something. My boyfriend's mother lives in England, but currently is in Barbados, and she makes money baking, she said money is not an issue for her, but baking keeps her mind off the situation we are going through. There's also tourism, stores that people work in, especially drink vendors. My boyfriend worked as a joiner. His brother works as one. |
