I did sohttp://en.allexperts.com/q/Caribbean-Visitors-3168/Best-Caribbean-Island-September-1.htmme research and found a similar concern to yours.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=ABC+islands&btnG=Google+Search
You can go to the ABC islands lots of shopping and plenty of restaurant their for you with alot of things to see and do,you can even rent a jeep and tour all the way around the island of Aruba all the islands are of Dutch territories, however they speak english so no problems there.

Another territory is Trinidad and Tobago, these islands are beautiful and also are filled with lots of activities,Tobago though is the hot spot for tourism there,Barbados is not in the hurricane belt either and boast lots of stuff from shopping surfing, glass bottom boat rides to its own little safari tour in its swamp land area or tour of its sugar estates.

Trinidad is a beautiful island and attracts many tourists, and it is out of the hurricane belt. Many people go there for there honeymoon, because it is such a wonderful tropical paradise.
Heres Trinidad's Tourism Site: www.visittnt.com

The ABC islands also sound like a good chioce.

Any of the Windward Islands or below. Even though Islands such as St. Lucia is in the hurricane belt, the depressions normally start here but do not build up enough velocity to become a category 1 hurricane. The tropical depressions are just a lot of rain that usually passes in half a day, (like Hurricane Dean in St. Lucia). The last hurricane to landfall on St. Lucia was back in 1963. It's the Islands further to the West of the Caribbean Sea such as Jamaica and the Caymans that usually get the full brunt of hurricanes.

Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao or your best options for this. These islands are located below the normal hurricane belt, giving them a higher chance of being missed bu the storms. Of the 3, I would recommend you Curacao. It's the largest of the 3, and has a whole lot to keep you busy.

http://www.curacao.com

PS>> do remember that ALL islands in the Caribbean do stand a chance of getting hit by a hurricane at some point.

Aruba, Curacao, and Bonaire. The ABC Islands are your best bet.

Enjoy)

It's simple.

Aruba! Look on a map. Anything north of Aruba can get hit. Aruba only gets grazed by the outermost reaches of Hurricanes.
