Where in the caribbean ....? |
Hi my family and I want to go on a suprise vacation for my husbands 40th birthday. He hates Mexico and really likes the security and service in the United States, such as Hawaii. But, we have been there a few times and I would like to go somewhere new. Where could we go with our three teenage daughters that would be tropical and safe. Maybe somewhere in the Caribbean? Any recomendations? Some place with alot of scenery and hiking availability. (more than just a nice beac) Thanks ! |

You can come to Barbados, it is a lovely place with beautiful beaches and lots of night life. As requested you can go hiking. Have alook at this site to see the hiking holiday.

Barbados is relatively safe but as you would anywhere else including your country, you should take all necessary precautions while going about your business.
There are lots of interesting place to visit including Plantation Garden Tropical Spectacular (dinner and floor show), Harbour Lights(dinner and floor show), Oistins where you can experience an outdoor meal of grilled fish, grilled potatoes and tartar sauce from the Fish net restaurant. These are safe and wholesome places that you can take your daughters to.
Additionally, you can go on an educational island tour where you can pass along the west coast where lots of celebrities like Oprah and Simon Cowell have their homes. Also, you visit Highland Outdoor Centre, Harrison's Cave, Gun Hill Signal Station, Bathsheba (famous for surfing)and St John Parish Church (beautiful scenery of the north coast) among others. |

Maybe Puerto Rico? It's in the Carribean and is actually a US territory. The US Virgin Islands are another possibility. |

I would sayyyyyy... Culebra and Vieques there islands off puerto rico and you dont need a pass port. Theres also amazing beaches there and it doesnt rain to often. Oh and another spot I would consider is Costa rica There is many things to do, White water rafting, volcanos, wonderfull beaches, and they offer surfing lessons for the kids. |

Grace Bay in the Turks Caicos Islands.
Lowest crime rate in the Carribean and their currency is the American dollar. It is also the nicest beach in the world, in my opinion and many others. Most of the tourists are Canadian and American, you can rent motor scooters or golf carts to get around.
I want to live there full time one day. |

I assume you all have PASSPORTS. Before you look anywhere else.. look at the Exhumas in the Bahamas.. really nice.. also look at Bequia and environs and Antigua and environs.
Take that list of 13 islands Yahoo shows for the caribbean AND AVOID ANY ISLAND ON THAT LIST... that is where all the AmeriKans go. There are about 60 ISLANDS in the Caribbean and MOST OF THEM are a whole lot nicer than the places on that list of 13. |

Grand Cayman
I went on a cruise there last year and loved it. It is beautiful and I found it safe since it is a british colony. People are nice, beaches are gorgeous and there are a lot of stores and good food. I even would like to live there lol.
I would not recommend Mexico or Bahamas (not good security)
Hope I helped
Happy New Year :) |

Trinidad, St. John, and The Dominican Republic have some of the best hiking trails. If you also are looking for lots of sightseeing opportunities, add St. Thomas to that list.
