We took an 8 day cruise last Feb, cost was roughly $3500. (we had a balcony room). The ship went to Puerto Rico, Antigua, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, & Bahamas. Of all these places, I would visit St. Thomas or St. Maarten again! St. Thomas is ABSOLUTELY beautiful!!! Puerto Rico was nice too. St. Thomas, I thought, was very modernized. Barbados without a doubt!
My first time there, I stayed at Pegwell Inn Guest House - it was the cheapest accommodation compared to other guesthouses, hotels, etc.! Also, it's close to amenities.
That beautiful island has me kept coming back. :)
For airfares (good for Canadians like you): http://www.redtag.ca/ - they offer some great deals, especially cheap if possible.
