Where is the best family oriented place in Jamaica?

Looking to send my parents to Jamaica, and i need to know which place is the most conservative. Somewhere they wont be constantly harassed by drug dealers.

We stay in Treasure Beach on the South Coast of JA.
Very quite and friendly.

This area tends to be less expensive since there are not alot of tourists.

my husband and i bring our 2 sons to Jamaica every year we stay in different areas and have only been harassed once by a drug addict not a dealer once(@the KFC/pizza hut in Mo'bay)so i think its an unfair assumption, that being said, last year we went to the RIU in ocho rios -beautiful place, good food and service and are looking forward to going back again most of the large resorts have very good security so your parents will be perfectly safe-relax!

hey big mo, this is kitty k and i live in the western section of jamaica. It is really nice that you want for your parents to come to jamaica and i think they would love coming to negril. Its much calmer than the other city and it is not that congested. There are alot of sightseeing in and around the surrounding communities. If u have any questions drop me line.

Kingston Gyal
Well...it depends. If they are more comfortable in environments similar to the U.S., then DEFINITELY send them to Ocho Rios. Ocho Rios is, by far, the city with the least amount of culture shock for tourists, as it was a city designed and built as a development project with the sole purpose of being a tourist destination. They even have a Hard Rock there. It is quite pretty! Remember, it is a 45 min drive from the airport. That being said...my favorite spot to go vacation at when I leave Kingston is Negril...but I am young and enjoy going to Jungle and their outdoor concerts. If they are more seasoned travellers, I would send them to Negril---Negril has nice hotels (not quite as nice as Ochi---what we call Ocho Rios), and some lovely restaurants like Kuyaba, RockHouse, and Rick's Cafe (which boasts the best sunset view in my country, as well as 40 feet cliff diving adventures). They can also take a day trip to go river rafting, or through Mayfield Falls (a natural spring water fall where u can climb and swim up to the top----not a lot of tourists here, very natural and beautiful and a much easier climb up than Dunns River Falls in Ochi). There is also a place in Negril called Alfred's Ocean Palace which has outdoor reggae concerts every Friday and Bourbon Beach, which has live reggae shows twice a week (and the BEST JERK CHICKEN I HAVE EVER TRIED...and I'm a Jamaican!!! But tell them to beware of the spicccccy sauce and to request it on the side). Now, in Negril they WILL be approached---someone will ask them if they want to buy ganja---but just tell them in advance to smile and say no, and they will be fine! Montego Bay would be my last choice for them, it is all right, but the only beach that I would even recommend is Doctor's Cave Beach and it is literally only a few yards long.......
I hope this helps!

A vacation in Jamaica can be the perfect retreat (or treat) away from home for your parents.

While there are lots of fun and activity places, there are also more quiter, relaxing areas, take a look at this page:

Try Sandals Negril see about it on their website. Also try tripadvisor.com for comments from people that have been there recently. We go there all the time and love it. The airport is the place that we usually are asked to buy drugs but there is a bus to take us to the resort right there so your not there long. Many years ago we did the touristy things but now we are quite content to stay put. Scuba, water sports, food, drink, beach and pools. What more could we ask for. We're in our mid-fifties but there are both younger and older there. It's just so relaxing. Do as little or as much as you like. What a great kid you are! Will you adopt us? Hope this helps, they'll have a wonderful time.

Do you want a place for couples or families?

If you want a couples resort than yeah, sandals would be good.

But no matter what you choose, make sure that you send them to a tourist area. (Preferably Negril or Ocho Rios) that will make it more comfortable for them. Take a look at "RIU" hotels and also the "SUNSET" chain

Well I live in Jamaica

I would have to say Negril. It has all inclusive resorts like Club Riu where u and your family are secluded and the are tons of joint and separate activities for you and the kids. If you intend to go out of the hotel for nightlife, food etc. try to find a hotel in Montego Bay because there are a lot more things to do there and only get an all inclusive, u don't wanna have to worry about anything on a vacation.
