Where is the best place to go in the Caribbean for late December/early January honeymoon?

We are looking for somewhere to stay in the Caribbean from Dec. 30th-January 6th. We have looked at St. Lucia and really like it, but are wondering if you have any other suggestions. Does anyone know anything about the Sandals Grande in St. Lucia? We are wanting an all-inclusive resort with really nice rooms, a nice beach, nice pools, and great food. Thanks for your help!
Additional Details
Those who have stayed at the Sandals in St. Lucia before - would you recommend the Grande or the Regency?

Wherever you are looking at, check out www.tripadvisor.com. That could make or break a place, we use that site and the reviews quite often. I love Aruba! Was there a few years ago and cannot wait to go back. Very small island, nice people and you can tour it easily on your own.
Have also been to Jamaica, Ocho Rios last year. Stayed at the Royal Plantation. An all-inclusive, total pamper yourself place. That place is highly rated. You must be careful about the Sandals and places like that, some of them are so large that it is hard to get personalized service. We looked into many of those before we decided on Royal Plantation. Good luck on your search and please check out tripadvisor. You can see pictures there of the place and get recent reviews which are very helpful.

Try Dominica or St. Lucia those two are excellent during those times. Either way you can't go wrong.

EDIT: Check out this website.

Hope it helps.

Did I mention that you can always have a day trip to Barbuda where there is pink sand.... the longest stretch of Beach on the island and a bird sanctuary. Great snorkeling. Excellent lobster.
Princess Diana frequented Barbuda.

If you are willing to go really expensive... you could stay at the Jumby Bay resort which is a fifteen minute boat ride off of one of our villages. Amazing facilities... amazing service... amazing food... really nice beach.... quite secluded from the rest of the island but just a boat ride away.

Let's see. The Sandal's La Grande is nice... Activity wise though... I didn't have that much fun in St. Lucia.

I would recommend Antigua.

There's an all inclusive Sandal's Resort there... which has just added a new wing.

There are also a bundle of other all inclusive resorts.

There are 365 Beaches.

A very active night scene (May I recommend Trappas for dinner one night and also Abracadabra for clubbing)

Antigua is very easily accessible from the US and even more accessible from the UK (one straight flight).

Rich in history (may I recommend tours to Nelson's Dockyard and the Shirley's Height on a Sunday Night)

We have lots of sea tours... you can organize for a sunset cruise (will include finger food and champagne)...

There is so much this little island has to offer but if often overshadowed by the larger islands.... I've seen many people who've said that once they've been here they can't imagine anywhere else.

Final Recommendation: Australian Homemade (the best ice-cream you'll ever have... ever.... belgian chocolate and strawberry yoghurt)

Congrats.

St. Lucia is nice, never been there but my boyfriend, his brothers and mother have been there, and I have that photo of them on my wall when they were in that country.

They went there from Barbados, I assume. I truly love Barbados - It's a paradise. Wonderful places to see, beautiful beaches, food are great especially a bit different to my tastes. People are friendly, too. Been there 6 times and plan on returning some time this summer or fall. :)

Firstly congrats on your engagement!

St. Lucia is considered to be "The Hawaii of the Caribbean". It is a lovely island, but depending on your departure city can be all day travel as well as higher flight costs due to the limited airlines that fly into St. Lucia. It also depends on which airport you fly into though. Vigie Fields being the closer to the resorts airport or Hewanorra airport where the transfers take you through the mountains. Beautiful drive, but quite curvy roads.

Between the Grande & the Regency which one is best for you an agent would only be able to determine by asking some questions? Then a recommendation could be made on where a good agent could suggest where they feel you will enjoy more. As I have had great luck with both of them.

Same with which island, because there are many to choose from and St. Lucia may or may not be the right place for your Honeymoon.

I would highly suggest contacting a travel professional that could better assist you with your Honeymoon. I think though in regards to St. Lucia Sandals is a great choice though. I'm not a fan of "all" Sandals resorts, but these two I do like. With an agent you always have a direct contact instead of waiting in line for the next avail. rep and never getting the same person twice! As an agent, a good one will of course do all in there power to make sure you experience a stress free trip, however problems can and do happen with travel that are sometimes just unavoidable. It is always nice to have someone in your corner if these problems should arise. Plus an agent can do there best then in staying within your budget for your Honeymoon.

If you call an agent and you feel they are either not helping you or just even a personality clash, please try another then. You want to make sure you are happy with who is booking this special trip. Like any profession there are good and bad agents. Some look in there clients best interests as to where others look into THERE best interests! Most of the times though you can tell this from the get go.

Please make sure you both have a valid passport that is good 6 months beyond your return date. If you haven't applied yet for a passport, they are quite backed up and I would send in that application as soon as you are able to try and avoid an expedite fee.

I would get started fairly soon on planning this for best rates as they are based on availalibity. Travel is changing to reward those that book in advance over last min.

If you are able to avoid traveling over New Years then it will save you money as they do charge premium rates over this time.

If there is anything I can do to help you please let me know, but either way I hope you have the most memorable Honeymoon one can have! Sounds like you are off to a great start!

Best Wishes to you!

Sandals resorts in the Caribbean are all really nice. I have personally been to the ones in St. Lucia, & Dominica Republic. I like the one in St. Lucia way better. With the winding roads from the airport and all the banana fields, + a remarkable resort, you cant go wrong! Also check into the Iberostar resort, not as much of a honeymoon resort as Sandals, but a 5 star resort with marble everywhere.

Try Montego Bay, Negril or Ocho Rios Jamaica.
There is an abundance of hotels to stay at, all inclusive and otherwise. Lots to see and lots to do.

Hotels:
- Breezes
- Grand Lido
- Couples Beach Resort
- Boscobel Beach Resort
- Super Clubs Resorts (Hedonism)
