Where is the best place to go? (mexico, dominican, jamaica, etc)?

Costa Rica is the best place I have been by far. They have great attractions and the people are very nie and friendly. The weather is really great and the scenery is beautiful. We stayed in a 5 star hotel called Tabacon. It was really a great vacation. If you do go make a point to see La Fortuna waterfall and definately hit up the hot springs.

Personally speaking, I would go to St Lucia everytime. Its really green (rain forest), spectacular and the people are great - lots to see and do. Barbados is nice as well but its alot drier and the country is not so mountainous.

What time of year are you thinking about? I would not recommend anyplace in the caribean from June to Oct, simply because of hurricane season. To many variables, and even if you get hurricane trip insurance, unless it is a full blown hurricane, it doesn't count. So all the tropical storms which would pretty much ruin a vacation, there's no protection for those.

I would only recommend mexico, preferably on the pacific side, or a few islands far to the south like Aruba that are outside the normal hurricane area.

Culture

Tobago...it is tha most friendly caribbean island...beautiful beaches, waterfalls, wildlife, parties...I've been there and it is heavenly check out this site:http://www.mytobago.info/ it has just about everything u'll need 2 know about tha beautiful island.

I took a cruise to Jamica, Grand Cayman Islands and Cozumel. It was a great 7 day vacation. You can leave from Galveston, Texas. I definately would not go to the Dominican Republic. I went there and it was not a safe place. Maybe it was there area I was in, it was just not a good experience.

Bahamas. I have been their 4 times on a cruise and It's beautiful there. (really hot though)

Mexico is a blast, and I've heard good things about the Dominican as well. I was in Jamaica briefly as part of a cruise and I didn't really like it there. I didn't really feel safe. We were on a tour and my dad wouldn't let me walk 20 feet to the bathrooms by myself.

Jamaica is Mexico, and etc. is fine but they are very limited in places you can go while Jamaica has tons of places to go have fun or relax.

There is NO SUCH PLACE AS "DOMINICAN" and I have a feeling you and your mother are NOT experienced enough travelers to know how to go to CUBA... For her I would recommend a nice vacation in the EXHUMAS.. much nicer and higher class than the Bahamas... the REAL travelers know to go to the Exhumas and avoid crime ridden places like Mexico and, especially, Jamaica.
