Where should we stay in San Juan, PR? |
My husband and I wil be going to Puerto Rico over Labor Day weekend. We will be in Rincon for two nights and are most likely staying at the Rincon Beach Resort. I have had a little trouble finding a good hotel in San Juan. We will be there for 2 nights. It seems like a lot of the hotels are either outdated or under construction. We would like a clean, updated hotel. I am not interested in staying near the airport because I have read about a lot of noise. I like the look of Normandie but there are complaints about noise, roaches, and gross carpet. The Condado is under construction. I want to be in the San Juan area. We will be visiting the rainforest, Bacardi Rum tour, and Old San Juan, but I don't want to be in the rainforest area. I feel like I have read all the trip advisor reviews out there and just want someone to tell me there is something I won't be disappointed in. |

Try some of the inns in San Juan, you can find beautiful guesthouses in Ocean Park, like "Numero Uno" and "Hosteria del Mar". If you prefer commercial hotels "The Ritz Carlton" and "El San Juan Hotel" in Isla Verde are very good choices, Condado Plaza in Condado is also a very nice place.
You will confront water problems problems in the old city, many of the "historic mansions" are not for the discriminant traveler. so if you like modern comfort avoid it, with the exception of "El Convento" where you will have all the amenities of a big resort and the atmosphere and opulence of the Spanish Era.
I will personally go for Hosteria del Mar in Ocean Park.
You may contact me for more information on San Juan, Puerto Rico.
I moved from Manhattan to San Juan a few years ago and I know all you need to know about San Juan, from restaurants,
hotels, clubs, spas and clubs.

I actually love the Dorado Embassy Suites. This is in Dorado which is 20 minutes from San Juan. It is beautiful & quiet & on a private beach, also with a gorgeous golf course. It s very clean. It is in a less crowded & quieter area. It has a beautiful pool w/ poolside bar & grill & jacuzzi. There is a bar & lounge inside where they play live salsa music on wkends. We got a suite w/ a balcony for less than $200 a night. You would probably need to rent a car, but you should anyway b/c then u can see all the great sites to like the rainforest, the camuy caves & the bioluminescent bays! ENJOY! |

Well, I've spent a good time in the Holiday Inn San Juan, isn't too big, but the people and the service were great. Is located at 1 minute away from the beach and has 4 restaurants and a lovely pool. In the front desk they are able to schedule for you trips for the "El Yunque" which is the rain forest, the Old San Juan, the Bacardi Rum and Distillery Factory, Luquillo's Beach, Camuy's Mine and Caves Park. The airport isn't audible from where the hotel is. You may get info in www.hisanjuan.com or with the reservations manager in amarrero@hisanjuan.com Also for some more references about Puerto Rico try www.enjoypuertorico.com That hotel offers a good offers like for example the one I've read that is $85 or $60 something with pizzas, t-shirts, welcome drinks and others things for free, 2 nights minimum. Try it, I know you gonna have a great time as I did with my family. |

Check with hotels in the Dorado area, it is like 20 minutes from the Bacardi Factory and 30-40 min from San Juan. No noise from Airport. |

If it were me I would always choose a vacation rental over a hotel. You have self catering accommodations and usually great amenities. Try this site for some ideas.
