I am planning a trip to Jamaica and was just wondering what would be the best city to stay in? I am looking for a nice beach and the best nightlife. Also what are some of the best things I can do or places to visit while in Jamaica? |

I would either recommend Negril, Montego Bay or Ocho Rios. Those areas are primarily what you are looking for. Fun activities, Wonderful Nightlife, Beautiful Beaches, The best attraction sites and fun things to do.
I am not sure what type of person you are so it will be hard to recommend what you should do, but, let me give you some examples;
1. In Montgeo Bay - you can go to the beach, do watersports, go on a booze cruise or visit some attraction sites.
2. In Negril - you can also go to the beach (a 7 mile beach strip), do watersports, there is also a water park here too or visit some attraction sites.
3. In Ocho Rios - This area has the most things to do as it concerns outdoor activities, there is Dunns River Falls (the highest waterfalls in the Caribbean), the Dolphins Cove, The Bob Marley Mausoleum, The Prospect Plantation (see ostriches, camels and plants), The Rainforest Mountain, and many many more.
If you desire any additional info or any assistance in any way. Please feel free to contact me. I also have a Travel Club here in Jamaica.

The obvious answer is that it depends on what you want to do. Negril is the party capital of Jamaicamon. Nice beaches, plenty of nightlife. Has the cliff side (more quiet/relaxed) and beach side (most of the major hotels/party spots). Downside is you'll need a vacation to relax from all the activities. Ocho Rios is close to Dunn's River Falls, a must see. More relaxed then Negril, doesn't have a large stretch of beach, each resort has it's own beach. Downside of Ochi is the cruise pier which equals tourists/higher prices. Montego Bay I don't like cause there isn't any downtown--it's all spread out, again each resort has it's own little private beach. For a more relaxed time, check out Port Antonio on the northeast side of the island for nature or the St. Elizabeth area on the southwest side of the island. Both Port Antonio and St. Elizabeth offer nice small hotels where you can relax and enjoy the culture. |

If you are flying into Montego Bay I would suggest a day trip into the country. The beaches and resorts are great, (personally I like Tensing Pen in Negril and Jake's at Treasure Beach) but do take some time to see the real Jamaica; drink some coconut water, eat some sugar cane, or go visit a coffee farm!
My wife and I got married here http://kewpark.com and come back all the time. It is just south of Montego Bay. We actually put together a You Tube channel to showcase the things we like to do in the Jamaican country. I'll include the URL in my sources if it would like to get some ideas from it. |

I'd say Montego Bay firstly or Negril(personally the beach is better in Negril especially if you like water sports). We got married there last year and had a blast in Montego Bay and Negril. We spent a few days in both places. negril is also slightly cheaper. It does get pretty crowded around spring break.There are quite a few night spots in Mobay too with good food, good music and lots of beer. Margaritaville is pretty cool but pricey and they always have something going on there. Check out the craft markets too dont let the pushy sellers con you though hold your ground and try your hand at haggling. Ocho Rios is also great for activities. If you go to a nice resort they will have plenty of activities from para sailing to deep sea fishing- which is actually fun after you'vee had a few rum punches.. lol
have fun |

I would suggest staying in Negril. The beach is fab and you can go to the Jungle nightclub. Also in Negril there are some great restaurants and bars to hang out at on the beach and the cliffs.
While in Negril try to take a trip to Pelican Bar on the southcoast it is something not to be missed. |

One great thing to do down there is to check out the drums they have, they've got whats called a steel drum, the sound it makes is out of this world!! i've played one only two times, but it was awesome! |

I agree about the steel drums, they were created in and is the National Instrument of Trinidad and Tobago actually and the "Steel Pan" as it is formally called is the only musical instrument created in the 21st century. You'll be amazed by the sweet sounds that can come from an "ordinary steel drum". |
